Rush Limbaugh said today on his radio show that Donald Trump’s attack on Ted Cruz over the weekend, calling him a ‘maniac’ given the way he’s dealt with McConnell and others in the Senate, is not an attack a genuine conservative would make and it has raised a red flag for him: While I would certainly vote for Trump if he were the nominee, I’ve never thought he was a genuine conservative. But I do think he’s tried in some ways to bridge his positions with conservatism and I think he generally leans in that direction.
At the end of the day though, if he becomes president, I expect a lot of compromise with Congress, especially on his more conservative positions — and I know that going into the voting booth. If you expect something different you might be in for a big surprise.
This is also why I support Ted Cruz. I do expect him to compromise with Congress as well, as he has said as much, but I don’t believe he will go so far as to compromise his principles.

It’s up to Cruz not me. Trump thinks big and takes bold steps. And the people are loving it. Cruz needs to be bolder if he wants to compete in the national. He’s concentrated his effort and has the evangelical caucus in Iowa about sewn up or at least tied, but now he has to attract a much wider constituency in the rest of the nation. And the rest of the nation is damned sick of being overrun with illegals and Muslims. And they’re damned sick about Obamacare, global warming, Obama, socialism, Hillary the lying bitch, and the entire big government corrupt crony capitalist mess. They want a clean sweep.
I like both Cruz and Trump and want them to succeed.

It appears to me that trump, after moderating his original statements, has all but endorsed that moratorium....
It appear though that it is not going to pass...but that is not a surprise with this senate.

I think Sen. Cruz has comparable or better positions on all these things.
1. trump has proposed a 90 day moratorium on moslems entering the US. It will take them 90 days to figure out moslems from genuine Christian converts of recent vintage. See Western Europe where they’re currently grappling with this problem. Sen. Cruz, on the other hand, proposes a three YEAR moratorium on entry from the 30 nations most incomes in terrorism, which also happen to be most of the countries with the highest moslem populations. trump:3 months. Sen. Cruz: 3 YEARS.
2. Sen. Cruz will build the wall. And put the personnel and resources necessary to patrolling the border. Sen. Cruz will immediately deport all illegals who have committed a crime. He will strengthen e-verify (I’m hoping he will implement a policy to retroactively apply e-verify to ALL workers over a reasonable period of time). What do you think most employers will do when President Cruz starts doling out prison sentences for employing illegals? How many illegals will stay when they can neither work nor get welfare? How many will be left after strict enforcement of these enhanced laws? How much will it cost us to rid ourselves of nearly all illegals?
What is trump promising? To hire loads and loads of immigration workers to round up all the illegals and throw them out. Good luck. There will be riots before the first bus leaves. But let’s say trump doesn’t waffle in the face of major protests. Let’s say he doesn’t walk it back, as he has previously done. So, he actually deports every last illegal. What does he do next? He lets all the “productive” ones back in through an “expedited process.” I assume by “productive ones,” he means the roughly half who aren’t on any form of welfare, and half jobs, and no criminal record. That probably amounts to 6+ million - 15 million. In the long term, how is that better than Sen. Cruz’ policies?
3. Sen. Cruz has said that he will cut off all federal funding to sactuary cities, and will end anchor babies.

You don’t have to convince me. Cruz needs to convince the nation. He needs to go bold.
Cruz has his parentage questions and these are sure to be on some peoples list to be brought up at some time sooner or later. A mother’s shunted birth right does not answer the questions about the father’s rights of heritage.
And unlike Trump, he won't want to paint his name all over it in big gold letters.
And Ted Cruz wants to legalize them all, so why are you so worried about that?
