Donald Trump is not a conservative--he's a reality TV star thoroughly in tune with the passions and dynamics of mass publicity and social media. No matter how much he denounces them, he's still a product of victim-based identity politics.
A lot of people think Donald Trump is a throwback to an earlier time in American history. He's seen as a nativist who wants to go back to the days of pre-multicultural America, to a time before identity politics and political correctness. But this interpretation misses something very important about the Trump phenomenon.
The Donald is very much a child of contemporary American culture, including its multicultural offshoot, identity politics. Although he rejects the leftist ideology of multiculturalism, especially the hypersensitivity of political correctness, he is operating well within its value system. He actually represents a new hybrid version of it--a mirror image, if you will, of the very culture he claims to despise.
Trump is a champion of identity politics, which in case we should forget, was invented by the left. He advances without apology or qualification the interests and values of his supporters. As a group, they possess the identity of people put-upon by their opponents. It may not be correct to say they are all one ethnic group, although many are indeed white; but it is true that Trump's "tribe," regardless of its demography, identifies with him as one of their own because of his unique political style. Like members of the politically correct left, Trump and his supporters see themselves as immune from criticism not because of the strength of their arguments, but because of the distinctive characteristics of âwho they are.â They are defined by their grievances. Although their identity politics exists on the opposite end of the political spectrum from the left, they

Morning Joe tells his panel that many lifelong Republicans hate Ted Cruz and Donald Trump so much that they would vote for Hillary Clinton if either one of them wins the Republican nomination:
Populist, not Conservative. I see someone agrees with me about Trump.
I also think a right-leaning Populist is about the best we can hope for at this point. So badly has the GOP tarnished the Conservative brand.
Total Horse Hockey.
Thank you, Karl Rove and John McCain, for weighing in.
The Saudi Opecker Princes have been buying presidents since Jimmy Carter, Clintoon, Obama and now want/need their pawned/owned B$tch to become our president.
Which goes to prove to EVERYONE that these so called “lifelong Republicans” were NEVER the same thing as “Conservatives”! No TRUE “Conservative” would EVER vote for Hillary Clinton-period. I could understand some Republicans “NOT” voting (or Trump or Cruz) because they’re not enthused about the party’s candidate but to literally vote for the MOST corrupt political figure in modern U.S. politics goes to show you the scum that lurk within the Republican party! I have more respect for some of my liberal friends who are supporting Bernie Sanders and have told me that they won’t vote if Hillary is the nominee than these so called “Republicans” saying they’d vote for Hillary Clinton....unreal!!!
Looks like he has no events after 12/16. Christmas break I suppose.
NO, I don't think so....I don't believe and haven't done for a long time...but never knew just how bad it was until this campaign....is there anyone in the government that is honest? Is there anyone in the government that isn't ‘owned’ by a super pac or lobbyists, or out and out greed? No, I don't think so...
So when you come to me with these ‘half baked’ stories on people, I don't believe any of it...I will do my own research and I will find the answers I'm looking for that appeases my mind....
Maybe it’s just because I’m from New York, but when I think of trump, “reality tv star” is way down the list. Successful real estate developer is more likely, but then again I’m not trying to make him sound like a Real Housewife.
Great pix!
She is so great in pictures without her 1” gunnit makeup over her mug.
Let them. The GOP has been on a suicide mission for 8 years.
Just what we need. Another expert analysis.
Excellent article (except for the slur on Senator McCarthy).
