I agree with Red Steel. If Trump needs to sell out to Big Corn in order to win the primary, I'm willing to forgive him.

You highlight the most critical issue in each and every presidential campaign going back decades, which is the absurd notion that all candidates must traipse through Iowa and genuflect before that parochial pack of self-appointed sages (repeatedly rubber stamped by the GOP) with their inane "first in the nation" 'caucus'.

Who came down from the mountain with the Commandment that "IOWA SHALL ALWAYS BE FIRST" anyway? Screw that noise. What is needed is a rotating schedule of primary states, changing every four years, with the only emphasis in beginning with States with lower delegate numbers, building up to the later primaries in larger states which will provide the delegate clout needed for the eventual nominee to reach or exceed the numbers needed to secure that nomination.

Reform of the primary process is needed. The most likely scenario for that to occur is under a Trump Administration, (presuming Trump wins under the Republican banner and not as an independent), due to the fact that the President is considered the titular head of his party. That would all but eliminate the convention 'dealmakers' and 'smoky backrooms'.

I’m actually thinking of downsizing the primary process and making it random. One random county could nominate someone — a truly door-to-door and town hall primary. Then another county nominates someone else. The two small primary winners then campaign nationally against each other.
