I don’t understand people who shoot video with the screen in portrait mode.
Horizontal is the way we see video these days, and if you want to put the video on the television, it’s format correct.
All that wasted space on the top and bottom of the screen seems easily avoidable. Plus I get this cabin fever as if I should be seeing a nice wide picture, but instead see only gray areas on both sides of a narrow video.

It’s the most natural way to take photos and videos with a cell phone. I can take photos and videos one-handed in portrait mode. All the buttons, icons, etc. are within reach of my thumb on whichever hand I’m holding the phone with. When I turn the phone for landscape mode, everything gets repositioned, and I need both hands; one to hold the phone, and the other to work the controls. When I view my own videos and photos, portrait is just as good as landscape. It’s only when I upload it YouTube that portrait mode is a problem.
