Washington (CNN)Ben Carson on Friday took a page from Donald Trump's playbook by threatening to depart the Republican Party.
Ahead of Tuesday's GOP presidential debate, the retired neurosurgeon slammed the party after reports emerged that Republican insiders were discussing the possibility of deal-making to decide the eventual nominee at the Republican National Convention.
"If the leaders of the Republican Party want to destroy the party, they should continue to hold meetings like the one described in the Washington Post this morning," Carson said in a statement. "If this was the beginning of a plan to subvert the will of the voters and replace it with the will of the political elite, I assure you Donald Trump will not be the only one leaving the party."

Hey, show a little respect. Ben Carson may not be presidential material, but he is a good guy, and has plowed a pretty good row in the right direction.
Who can blame him? He has not been treated fairly either. The power structure of the GOP should not play favorites in the primary. They should just facilitate the choice of the people.

I agree. This is a principled stand on CArson’s part. He’s saying that if ANY candidate gets cheated out of the nomination that he and his will oppose them.

I wouldn’t want Ben leading, but he is great at supporting others when wrongs are being done. He ought to be in Trump’s cabinet somewhere.

This is a sure poll bump for Carson for having testosterone we didn’t know he had and even possibly a gain against Cruz also, for improving his chances to return upward in the polls. Good for Carson.
Excellent timing, also. Just when Cruz is starting to get some media spankings here and there.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Trump taps Doc for HHS or Surgeon General.
This will get Carson some momentum against the Cruz’ movement. Carson’s numbers will get a bounce.

I’m going to give Ben points for fair play here.
My opinion Ben Carson just took a big jump upwards. Between Trump and Carson, it has to be sinking into the dense minds of the GOPe that they are never going to get away with stealing the nomination choice away from the voters.
Down with the establishment!
