Trump won't blow up, but he will fade away
Washington Times ^ | 12/11/15 | T Carney

So, lesson No. 1 is this: national polls, where Trump's lead is the biggest and the most consistent, are nearly meaningless. Take any December 10 before the presidential primaries in this millennium, and the national polling leader that day has not won Iowa or the nomination in any contested primary. Put another way: Mad-as-Hell voters have dated Trump, but they're ready to marry Cruz or Rubio.

Doubt it. Not this time. Americans are tired of the K-Street whores. Which is all of them.

Good luck with the GOPe liking Cruz any more than they like Trump.

Oann has Trump at over 40 percent Nationally among Republicans.

7 weeks left before IOWA. I bet Trump wins 4 out of the first 5 primaries.

If the GOP thinks they can broker a convention, when did that work last time, and was that person a billionaire?
They can run ads and he can counter them. Trump and Cruz now that’s the ticket.

What a wonderful time to be alive.

Firstly, I think any ‘conventional’ historical wisdom regarding Presidential campaigns and their ensuing elections has been completely thrown on its ass.

What is happening now is completely unprecedented, even looking back on the Ross Perot phenomenon. A Bush spends upwards of $50 million dollars and has only got a decline in polling? His main enemy, Trump, having spent less than a million.

Even taking Luntz’ most recent revelational focus group that over a period of hours made him shake at the knees and dirty his nappies. Simply put, there is no applicable explanation media or GOPe is capable of or willing to understand - real working, tax paying Americans are getting tired of taking it up the kazoo by the government AND by their own lying, cheating, quisling party’s elected officials.

It is a patently clear signal that we as a collective are really over and done with them. The ‘date’ is over, and you aren’t even gonna get a peck on the cheek, buster! More likely, we’ll yell rape and call the cops on you.

Last GOP brokered convention was 1948. Liberal Thomas Dewey became the nominee. The inevitable president, the choice of all the big donors, suffered an upset loss to Harry Truman.

Cruz has a loser's strategy.

Lay around and wait for grandpa (Trump) to die to get his stuff because you don't have what it takes to do it on your own.

I’d respect him more if he at least tried to smother grandpa in his sleep! But Cruz’s campaign strategy seems to consist entirely of waiting for better, more attractive candidates than himself to simply drop on their own.

Trump Lands Major Endorsement from New England Police Union

A New England police union voted to endorse Donald Trump Thursday evening, marking the Republican presidential front-runner's first major endorsement in the early voting state of New Hampshire.

... the union, the benevolent association boast a membership of nearly 5,000 law enforcement and corrections officers from an estimated 200 precincts ...

“The national polling leader that day (Dec. 10th) has not won Iowa or the nomination in any contested primary.”

A contested primary [sic]. There’s the rub. I assume he means a brokered convention. There hasn’t been a brokered convention in over 50 years, so this statistic is virtually meaningless.

Tge tone of this article, after reading two others like it, just today, and watching the Trump hating duo, perino and gutfeld, it sounds like a third grader. Wrote it

It sounds like Gilda Radner doing “ the Judy Miller show”

These media people are being exposed for not knowing the American people they’re so used to makin fun of and controlling the mind set of the public they don know what to do

But any public figure will be so sorry they went against him, no one is listening to them telling us what to think of trum

If the polls are “meaningless”, then why is the GOPe, the media, and the left demonstrating their pandemonium on an hourly basis, day-by-day?

If you don’t believe the numbers, just look at the trend. Look at the consistency of the trend....look at the trend of the consistency.

Wishful thinking and whistling past the graveyard provides the inspiration of writers like these. I’m glad to see blowhards like Ro e, and company, sweating bullets because their pet chihuahua is only polling at 3%.

Congressmen condemning Trump in their chambers exhibits the panic on the left and right, further signifying the validity and effect of the “meaningless polls”.

We haven’t seen this since Sarah Palin scared the crap out of the left a few years ago. Their abject panic over all things conservative is proof enough that they ARE buying into these “meaningless polls” and it has them unable to breathe.

Every day’s headlines slamming Trump are just rewrites of the day before, all searching for that “magic angle, or spin” to make a difference. None yet.

It’s a big contest amongst journalists to “haul in the big one”. They’re sharpening their hooks, and upsizing their bait, but Trump - nor his supporters - are biting.

After they exhausted all the issues available, they’ll settle back down on “racist”, islamophobes”, “homophobe”, etc...their old standards. But they won’t wot as well either. The cloke of invulnerability has bee removed from the press and the elites, and their true mission is exposed to the masses.

“You can fool all of the people, some of time; some of the people, all of the time; but you can’t fool all of the people all of the time.”

So, lesson No. 1 is this: national polls, where Trump's lead is the biggest and the most consistent, are nearly meaningless.

That is not at all true in this situation. Trump leads by 20 points, with at least four other viable candidates in the race. A national lead of five percent may not matter in an individual state, where the demographic variations could easily shift the outcome by five points, but Trump's much larger lead does matter. If he doesn't fade before the caucuses or before the NH primary, that lead will be hard to overcome.

It does not refer to brokered conventions.

The last two US presidents won the Iowa caucuses as non-incumbents.

Is this Lesson No. 1 from Common Core? Sounds like it. The GOP wouldn’t let Cruz be the nominee because he’s not bought and paid for. I don’t want Rubio because if the GOP endorses him, then you know he’s bought and paid for.
