Former Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge said Wednesday that Donald Trump is an "embarrassment" to the Republican Party and the country.
At a Manchester, New Hampshire campaign event for former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, Ridge dismissed Trump as a serious presidential contender.
"I think Donald Trump is about celebrities, he's about publicity, he's not about bringing a serious mindset toward trying to address the wide range of security challenges in this country," he said.
Ridge, who supports Bush for president, said he would never vote for Trump.

Trump needs to do a formal proposal and just do what Rand Paul is doing. Don’t say “Muslim”; just list the 30 something Muslim countries and include second generation. If their parents are from Syria, doesn’t matter if they were born in France.

Here's a clue for you Tom...and it is something either you know and are lying through your teeth about, or that you are wholly ignorant of and therefore putting that ignorance on display for us all.
Whenever the president finds that the entry of any aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, the president may, by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or nonimmigrants or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate.
This is in the U.S. Code of Laws. It was passed by Congress in 1952 and has been the law of the land ever since. And, by the way, at the time it was passed by a Democratic Congress.
So, to be clear, if the President determines that murders/killers/enemies are infiltrating any group of people to do harm to America, he has been given the power by Congress to stop or restrict that groups immigration or non-immigration status and ability to come into the country by proclamation. This is precisely what Trump has proposed…and for obvious reasons.
It is NOT un-American, it is U.S. Law.
It is NOT un-Constitutional, Article 6 Paragraph 3 of the U.S. Constitution regarding no religious test refers specifically and only to the election of Congress...not to immigration.
As President, Donald Trump would have full legal authority under U.S. Law to do exactly what he has proposed.
All of the hype, outrage, and statements to the contrary are either political grandstanding, abject ignorance of the law, or willful lies regarding the issue.

Tom, there was a time when a GOP candidate would espouse nationalistic proposals. It was from 1860 or so until around 1989. then it wasn’t ok to espouse nationalism. Now it is again. Get over it.

Yes! Amazing isn’t it? It was on Twitter the day after Trumps stand down press release. It looks like someone took a picture of it on a TV screen.
The problem I have with designating countries, ie Syria, rather than a ideology is that countries contain many Christians and Jews who are being discriminated against or killed. In addition, what about countries like England or France where there are many Muslims? A ban against a country will not stop them.
