Could be taqiyyah but he's probably sincere; there are a lot of muslims who share his views but are afraid to voice them for fear of being branded apostates. Not unlike the omerta among Italian immigrants before they had fully assimilated.

Muslims buy into this stuff at various levels. In principle the evil stuff is there ready to be pulled into the belief. In practice it often doesn’t happen. A lot of this has to do with the way the real God restrains the real devil.

We should make hay while the spiritual sun shines. And don’t let the moon fool us into thinking it’s the sun, though it can light up a harvest.

One thing that ultimately can’t be faked about Christianity is the love. Don’t ask the candidate what he hates. Ask what he loves. If worshiping the Lord is high on that list, for example, this probably isn’t the dutiful Muslim. Music is verboten in Islamic worship and big in Christian worship... will he sing a few bars of a song to the Lord (however amateurishly)? It shouldn’t be hard to tell the love based witness from the hate based fakes.

In view of the quran, he is an apostate. I'd might believe him if he were to denounce that foul book and declare himself a Christian.
