Russell Moore, aged 44, serves as the 8th president of the Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention, the moral and public policy agency of the nation’s largest Protestant denomination which has 15.8 million members in 46,000 churches.. An ethicist and theologian by background, Dr. Moore is also an ordained Southern Baptist minister and the author of several books. A native Mississippian, he and his wife Maria are the parents of 5 sons and live in a suburb of Nashville, TN. Moore is an influential figure in the evangelical community, and frequently goes to bat for religious social conservatives in the national media.

"FR 11202015 Russell Moore, Conservative Christian Leader Blasts Anti-Refugee Rhetoric, Calls For Compassion"

5/02/2014

Moore was an aide to U. S. Rep. Gene Taylor (D-MS) serving in various roles including as campaign communications director and press spokesman in Taylor's 1992 campaign against Republican Paul Harvey. He was later part of the social liberal coup in the leadership of the SBC in 2013 which ensued after the uproar that Richand Land caused by his controversial comments about the Trayvon Martin case that resulted in an official reprimand by the ERLC's executive committee. Moore succeeded Land as president of the ERLC in 2013. He is soft on resisting the illegal alien hordes in the U.S., wishy-washy in his position on homosexuality, has promoted racial reconciliation by repudiating the SBC's racist history (In 1995, the SBC voted to adopt a resolution renouncing its racist roots and apologizing for its past defense of slavery, segregation, and white supremacy.) and working for churches that are multiracial venues of reconciliation as a witness to the coming kingdom, i.e., he is encouraging predominately white congregations to integrate with black worshippers, and denounced the Confederate flag after the Charleston Massacre of 2015. Many denominations receive federal tax dollars for helping resettle refugees, including the Muslim refugees from the Middle East. Social liberals of various intensities are found frequently in evangelical academia, including SBC colleges and seminaries, but the SBC itself is not controlled by them.

If you follow islam in America you need a GPS, listening device and un-hackable means of being monitored 24*7.

islam is a concurring brainwashing device and can not be trusted in a free country.

Guess I'm alone, but no, he is not right. I suspect he knows this and phrased his "proposal" in a way to create the biggest media splash.

When he amends it to suspending immigration and refugees from certain countries, and we'll have to be a bit careful here, then it works. Of course it also bars Christians, but it's a firm standard. When he amends it to bar people holding certain ideologies, sure. Of course that will require distinguishing radical from non radical Muslims. We once banned socialists, we can ban those who support radical Islam. But the State Dept makes the decision, so it could be problematical. Partial country bans are also possible, only admit immigrants who are non ideological and whose presence benefits the United States. Is that a bizarre concept, do something that benefits our country. But banning based on religion, that won't work. Besides, they'll lie. Or "convert", LATEST MUSLIM ASYLUM SEEKER SCAM: Quickie Conversions of Convenience

There must be some medium between letting nobody in and letting everybody in.
US Citizens, Visa and Green card holders should be allowed.
No papers, no entry.
People who traveled to suspect areas should be questioned.
Same rules as for everyone else.
Asylum seekers: Camp with no entertainment until verified.
Troublemakers and those who wish to leave are sent back.

Until all Non-Muslim countries have a discussion about Islam and its directive to force its way of life on ALL INFIDELS, Muslims are unwelcome. How they feel entitled to come to a Non-Muslim country and then have 51% of its immigrant population demand Sharia Law and 25% of the immigration population agree with violent Jihad. AND WE ARE SUPPOSED TO ACCEPT THAT?

https://www.centerforsecuritypolicy.org/2015/06/23/nationwide-poll-of-us-muslims-shows-thousands-support-shariah-jihad/

According to the just-released survey of Muslims, a majority (51%) agreed that "Muslims in America should have the choice of being governed according to shariah." When that question was put to the broader U.S. population, the overwhelming majority held that shariah should not displace the U.S. Constitution (86% to 2%).

Even more troubling, is the fact that nearly a quarter of the Muslims polled believed that, "It is legitimate to use violence to punish those who give offense to Islam by, for example, portraying the prophet Mohammed."

But the government should not penalize law-abiding people, especially those who are American citizens, for holding their religious convictions.

Phony strawman. Trump never suggested American citizens would be affected.

More stupid people who didn’t read Trump’s press release. It’s a stand down, a moratorium - “until our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on”.

Yes, Islam is a religion (some would say an evil cult). And we musn’t discriminate against anyone based on their religion. Right? But is Islam no different than any other religion one could name? Of course it is very different. Its texts are replete with commands to do all manner of atrocities against the “infidel.” It advocates violence, discrimination against females (including pedophilia and honor killing), and other disgusting aspects of Sharia law and a whole lot more. My point in all this, if it’s not yet clear, is that discriminating against Muslims and Islam is unlike discriminating against any other religion. That important difference is the gorilla in the room that Trump’s critics choose to ignore.

http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2015/12/franklin-graham-and-trump-agree-on-muslims.html

The bearer of the most famous name in American Christianity the Reverend Franklin Graham, cares to differ with wimp Russell Moore.

“......we dont need more gun control,we need border patrol. No Muslims should be allowed into this country until there is a process in place to fully vet them. We have got to turn away those who could potentially pose a threat until this war with radical Islam is over.

Trick question?

Anyone advocating the incursion of Muslims into our nation, now reduced to pitiful status, is either a moron or one that has a death wish.

Russell Moore is a wolf in sheep’s clothing who is embedded in the SBC.

That a flaming lib like him could actually plant himself within the SBC’s leadership should make everybody take note at what is said at all of our pulpits.

I don’t think this guy should be allowed to write editorials and make comments on hear say. He should quote trump and then make his point. Not regurgitate what the msm said about what trump said. I think that is called spreading gossip and there are tough biblical penalties for that.

Thank you for referencing that article MacNaughton. Please bear in mind that the following critique is directed at the article and not at you.

"As part of the church’s mission, we believe we should seek to persuade our Muslim neighbors of the goodness and truth of the gospel."

With all due respect to Dr. Moore, please consider the following. While Muslims have accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior, I have major reservations about Dr. Moore saying that Christians should persuade our Muslim ”neighbors” about the good news of Jesus. After all, John 15:24 shows that Jesus told his apostles at the Last Supper that regardless that Jesus had performed miracles that people still hated Him.

In fact, note that Mark 6:11 shows that Jesus had instructed his disciples that when they leave a town that did not welcome them or listen to their words to shake the dust from their feet - as a testimony against that town.
