GOP presidential contender Ted Cruz said Tuesday that he disagrees with rival Donald J. Trump's plan to ban Muslims from coming into the United States until the federal government can ensure that those coming into the nation do not pose a threat to the country.
"I do not agree with his proposal," the Texas senator said at a press conference on Capitol Hill. âI do not think it is the right solution.â
Mr. Cruz said that some have encouraged him to criticize Mr. Trump, but said he will not to so. Instead, he said he is pushing solutions aimed at putting a three year moratorium on refugees from Syria and Iraq, and giving governors more power to stop refugees from being resettled in their states.
Mr. Trump has tangled with most of the candidates in the GOP field ..with the exception of Mr. Cruz .. though he warned at a rally in South Carolina that he will respond in kind if Mr. Cruz attacks him.

Nobody mortal has a really clear view into Trump’s future. However nobody knows the end of a chess game from the beginning, and still if it’s a chess master doing it versus a fumbling amateur, you have a pretty fair sense he’s going to win.
A lot of people have Trump’s ear, and he’s been meeting with some evangelists who are doubtless making the case to Trump that he is embarked on a course marked out by the Lord.
I could very easily see Trump coming out of this a believer even if he didn’t go into it that way. Theologians sometimes call such set-ups “prevenient grace.”
[ Be careful....you might get the Twister Scorecard thrown at you for saying things like that ;-) ]
LOL!!!! The Twister scorecard! I love it!
Clearly used when Cruz supporters can win an argument with words or logic...
And... it would be a divine answer of kindness to what has been prayed around the land as it has groaned under Barack Obama.
The more and more I watch, the more I am amazed at the things that God does. And there is a pattern to this kind of event, a pattern that plays out through the bible. We might be coming out of a chastisement phase into a blessing and encouragement phase. This doesn’t guarantee our progeny will continue on such a course, but we sometimes can only play this a day at a time.
Apparently so, but on the basis of invalid premises.
No, we don’t need any more refugees who come here and vote Democrat to further the welfare state. I don’t care what their religion is, the American sense of freedom will cease to exist.
We help them in their countries. There are still plenty of Jews living in Arab countries who don’t emigrate to Israel. Why they do that is complex. They did get the remaining Syrian Jews out of Damascus.
What you are advocating is national suicide. America is supposed to be a beacon, and not turn into Sweden.
You might try to back up your premises. Invalid premises bring invalid conclusions.
If government is allowed today to bar muslims because they are muslim, then tomorrow that same government will decide it can bar Bible Studies or evangelical Christians. Cruz is wrong and Trump is right — ONLY IF you decide that the First Amendment is obsolete and no longer the law of the land.
Thanks for the side by side... the thread no longer interests me since it is just a last ditch rah-rah for Trump supporters looking for anything (even the WP) to grab on for support while in freefall.
I agree with Trump 100%.....we should stop ALL immigration for 50 years or so.
Trump’s poll numbers are going to rise. Sad for you. Butthurt on the horizon.
Two terms of Barack Hussein Obama.
Are you confused. This isn’t about Bible studies. Geesh
The First Amendment doesn’t apply in Pakistan or Saudi Arabia to citizens of those countries, so your argument is pretty moot.
Syrian Christians did this? Bring forth your proof?
What, you are about logical arguments and not about jumping several steps to conclusions without examining each step in between?
Is this a new trend?
Being a software geek I know the drill should be read write COMPUTE repeat....
The thing is, what I’m seeing expressed from some Cruz supporters on this thread is not that they’re bothered by the fact that they disagree with him on one issue. It’s that this is a particularly important issue. It’s one thing to disagree with your candidate on some minor point, and another to disagree with him on an issue which you view as fundamental.
There’s also the concern about what this shows regarding his ability to stand up to pressure from his donors and from politically correct attacks.
or rather, read, compute, write, repeat
but it is so much fun doing the equivalent of cut/paste that is using our CPU powers to the max!
Cruz looks like he might be a good peace president; Trump a war president.
Trump is right.
Cruz is wrong.
