Yeah he was stunned, I watched it at my son’s place. Truth has that effect, it stuns people - they are left with nothing to say. In the case of Trump’s press release, it’s not a ban, it’s a stand down, a moratorium - “until our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on”. When what he gets is irrational ad hominem attacks you know he’s on the mark. He’s got the winning hand. It’s amazing to watch.
Ted Cruz is probably better at straight debate but he doesn’t come close to Trump for controlling the narrative. Trump has his moves planned out before he makes the initial move.

And like the Ring of Power as Frodo became weaker and weaker, Obama’s communist-Islamist handlers know that their time of having a foreign enemy combatant in the White House is short unless they can create a reason for martial law and cancellation of the election. Expect desperate Islamists to act quickly. Trump is right to get ahead of this and to work on solidifying resistance BEFORE Hitler has taken over the whole world.

I still favor Cruz, but Trump is saying things that need to be said - not for his own power but for the continued existence of the nation. I have to respect that.
