MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. — Donald Trump on Monday night dug in his heels on his latest controversial statements — this time a proposal to shut down Muslim immigration to the United States indefinitely.

The ban would include tourists and those trying to enter the country on visas — and even Muslim American citizens caught on the wrong side of the border.

The proposal, which Trump described as "very salient, very important, and probably not politically correct" was released a few hours prior to the rally, which was held on the USS Yorktown and honored the anniversary of Pearl Harbor.

Cruz and Paul had already proposed this but nobody was paying attention:

rechecked the link to make sure
Cruz tweeted that if elected president, “I will shut down the broken immigration system that is letting jihadists into our country.” Cruz elaborated in a statement:

The President should place an immediate moratorium on refugees from countries with a significant al Qaeda or ISIS presence, such as Syria. I’ve introduced legislation to make this happen; it is not a desired step, but a necessary step for the security of the United States.>>>

that is not “we will not let any muslims in the country” its a difference with a distinction.

I tried mentioning this as (yet more) proof that Rand Paul was trying his darndest to advance conservative causes and got responses amounting to “durr hurr, isolationist racist daddy”. Then the loudmouth liberal plant Trump proposes the same d@mn thing and they act like he’s the next Moses talking to a burning bush.

Right. The media is going hysterical but it amounts to the same thing. Even Jeb said that he would only accept refugees who can prove they are Christians:

Paul and Cruz are weak candidates for president. I like them but they belong in the senate.

Trump will destroy Hillary and will be a great president.

“The ban would include tourists and those trying to enter the country on visas — and even Muslim American citizens caught on the wrong side of the border.”

This is about the 10th article, no joke, that says it includes citizens. Trump never said that. Already they are twisting his words and being dishonest. Do we have ANY journalists left in this country who are honest, who go by FACTS? NOWHERE in his press release did he mention citizens!

Only Trump is recognizing that we are at war with radical Islamic terrorists. The only way to get the ones already here taken care of is to stop any more from coming in, and that will take cooperation from the Muslim community.

They need some pressure put on them. Restricting their travel to and from the US is a necessary first step, since this is war. Otherwise, we'll have the irreversible situation the EU has. Everyone else wants to talk big, but only Trump is saying this is what needs to be done NOW.

I agree with Trump. You don’t invite the enemy in during the middle of a war. These guys are faking passports from several countries. Even if we said we are only inviting in Swedish models there would be some real UGLY models with Swedish passports.

As history has shown that moderates can and do become radicalized why all the huff about shutting them off?

“Defiant”? Defying who? — the media. Not the People.

Good post. Do you know the main reason the UAE is letting zero Moslem refugees in?

“Authorities in the United Arab Emirates say 41 people will go on trial for trying to “seize power and establish a caliphate” in the Gulf nation.”
http://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-33751205

So if a very rich Sharia law Moslem nation has severe restriction on immigration of MOSLEMS into their country, what is the issue with the US doing that and more? Of course this type of news is never brought up in the MSM

Paul’s problem is that he had to rush into the election because this may well be the last one that matters if we don’t turn things around, and he’s had to traverse a minefield of Neo-conservatives eager to slap him with their idiotic old ‘isolationist’ label while not triggering too much liberal opposition before his career can get off the ground.

I liked Cruz for awhile after Walker dropped out (which was absolutely devastating) but the shine has started to wear off that apple, so to speak.

Trump talks a good game but I have suspicions that he just loves the limelight and throwing red meat for easy popularity; that he took the talk-show host formula (sit around on your a$$ playing Yankee Doodle) and put it into action. Some of his promises are absolutely off-the-wall ludicrous.

I am extremely wary of Trump.

I’ve been paying more attention than most as of late, which is why I know Rand and Cruz said much the same thing he did and they said it first.

And to your last question, no, I finally got fed up with Hot Air after being banned for expressing anger with a post showing an Israeli news site smearing Trump. The resident liberal trolls have been running amok for YEARS with some longtime posters suspecting the admins allowed them as a means to drive up post count, and with registration closed for years on end there’s just no point.

Trump is playing the media like violin. Trump is using the media big time and his strategy is to make highly contentious statement which gives him free and wide face time. And because it is shown as news it carries far more credibility than paid advertising.

Trump hasn't said 'ban' he said 'suspend'. Primary definition of Suspend: Temporarily prevent from continuing or being in force or effect.

And Trump said from anywhere, not just from Islamic nations. Not at all the same.

We used to read history books and wonder how the Rome was over-run. The Roman Empire had tentacles as far as the British Isles, northern Africa, and the Middle East, but didn't defend their homeland. It's exactly what the US is doing.

This isn't the first case. The Tsarnov Brothers are the prime example of the very big problem with the refugee program. 911 taught us nothing it should've taught us. Instead of destabilizing the Middle East, why wasn't the "student" visa program given more scrutiny? And then, yes, there were Muslims who cheered 911. And why the heck are we still friending Saudi Arabia?

The US cannot be saved if our population isn't stabilized and integrated. We already have too much on the plate with Black Lives Matter stirring up the black population which has suffered under Obama. Add to that radical hispanics who want to degrade and overwhelm the US.

Only Trump is saying "this is madness". EVERY ONE of the others is quite willing to "deal with the devil" in ways that benefit their sponsors.

I might temper my views somewhat if some leaders in the US Muslim community step forward and tell us what they're going to do to rid their communities of those with jihadist sentiments. And admit that they can't absorb any more people into Muslim communities until they do.

Some are pummeling on Trump for an impractical recommendation.

I will cut Trump slack on this one if he allows that this is not going to be perfect OR popular. Ugly things happen in ugly wars. In the mean time, if anyone really does have the puppet strings of Islam on this earth, he/she is going to need to realize that either it gets reined in or more or less thoroughly ostracized. But swallowed, it will not be.

Remember how Jap became a bad word in WWII. Yes America forgave, but only after kicking their arses so hard they surrendered.

I agree with Trump in principle. Cruz, if he wants to, can be the wonk that comes up with the most workable approximation. But to stand there and not beat the bushes to get standers in the gap that are effective... yeah so this is a mixed metaphor, so sue me... no sale.
