For example, pissed off is derived from the French word ‘pissouir’. Why not blame the French for our language? Piss poor refers to people too poor who could not afford a pot to piss in, in order to sell it to tanneries, who used it to tan hides. “you’ve pissed a farthing” means you got a bonus for working your assigned job.
