Still shaking from having to refute my Episcopal priest and his friends who were calling the NRA a terrorist organization.

The truth is, all I know about the NRA is that my late husband was a lifelong member and got their magazine but I’m pretty sure they aren’t a terrorist organization because he would not have belonged to one. He was a gentle soul.

Hate to break it to you but you need to find another Church.

You might want to find another church or denomination. The NRA is a civil liberties organization for the 2nd Amendment. They have never advocated terrorism so your priest is a liar or he lacks discernment.

I am not a member any more and not really even that big of a fan, but calling them terrorists is inexcusable.

I hear you. Had the same with my fellow Catholics . . . but had some things to point out about my former religion.

You should remind your priest that bearing false witness is a sin. You should also remind him that outrageous lies like that sometimes introduces a fist to a nose.

You need a new church. The one you currently attend is not adequate.

The NRA isn’t as good as I would like it to be, but it in no way supports violence or the use of guns for unlawful activity.

It’s an up and up organization, and is about 180 degrees from being a terrorist organization.

Your husband was doing the right thing by being a member.

Many good people have done it. Charlton Heston was a lifelong member and supported it heavily.

I would urge folks to join better more effective organizations, but that in no way means I disrespect those who join the NRA. They are trying to do the right thing by joining.
