Be A Refusenik!
Original Content | December 5, 2015 | By Laz A. Mataz

In the old Soviet Union, there was a class of citizen known as the Refusenik. In Russian, the word was отказник, pronounced 'otkaznik'. There were two definitions for this label: One, people who were not allowed to emigrate -- especially Russian Jews -- and two, people who willfully disobeyed laws as a form of protest.

As America careens into a fascist state most reminiscent of the former Soviet Union, it will be necessary and useful to adopt the techniques of the oppressed citizenry of that empire. As free speech is squelched via 'hate speech' laws, we will need to adopt the Samizdat model of distributing free information and opinions (more on that in another editorial soon). As the nation’s laws are slowly ratcheted down to control and harass people -- rather than uplift and uphold the Constitution, and remove barriers to interaction -- it will be necessary to become a Refusenik.

This petulant man-child, this President Stompy-foot, needs to be told "NO". In a firm voice, and with no anger whatsoever, simply tell him "NO". I promise you it is not a word he has heard often....or often enough.

Some of us will suffer greatly, in the Refusenik Movement. I expect to be one of those, since I am launching the concept. I expect to be 'made an example of'. I do not care. Some things are more important than life itself....such things as liberty, such things as the heritage of our country, such things as our Constitution and Bill of Rights.

I could go on, and name any number of outrageous, tyrannical, and unconstitutional efforts this utterly uncontrolled administration is attempting, but I see no point in iterating each one. The concept is clear.

Refuse to comply. Be a Refusenik. Urge others to do the same.

This shall be the symbol of the Refusenik Movement:

Include it wherever you post. It is our modern-day Gadsen Flag.

My quack "just" wanted to know if there were any in the house and if they were locked up. I told him everything was under control. Nothing since. It coulda been 15 yr ago.

We have to get the local popos to provide a grant to get a handgun, so the gov't knows.

All my life I have been ornery, stubborn and against conformity. I have been a refusenik and did not know the name. Sign me up for your ping list.

Let me add something I truly mean: As I sit in my comfortable home—well appointed, clean, a little OCD (or CDO, as someone pointed out, the letters in the correct order), and an enviable, enjoyable garden— it occurs to me that it has no significance as it is temporary any way.

An oppressive government is so reprehensible that personal comforts are a small sacrifice if we can preserve a free country for future generations. We may be called on to make such sacrifices, even our lives. If it comes down to it, I hope the older generations will front the fight.

Of course, we very well may not get to that point, but it is something we need to consider and prepare for with the hope it will not happen.

Don’t refuse, that will mean yes.

Say no.

Mr. Laz -

We have never met, but I have laughed at all your funny posts and now I cheer you on with this most serious post. May the Lord ever bless you.

But I have a suggestion for your logo: change the resistance to 50 Ohms. Then we can be called the terminators.

Never Forget, even for an instant, that the one and only reason anybody has for taking your gun away is to make you weaker than he is, so he can do something to you that you wouldn't allow him to do if you were equipped to prevent it.

This goes for burglars, muggers, and rapists, and even more so for policemen, bureaucrats, and politicians.

“No, I am Laz”

I was thinking as in “I am Spartacus” when thousands claimed to be Spartacus to protect Spartacus from the Romans.

You guys should find a doc like mine. We talk about guns, hunting, asinine democrats and their liberal views. He has written some really strong worded articles that have been published in the newspapers. He’s a super good guy and a fabulous old fashioned kind of doctor.

These are words every person should read, and heed. Furthermore, they should be chiseled deep, into the granite of the mountain of your particular choice, for truer words have seldom been written.

*THIS* is what so-called "gun control" is *really* all about. It isn't about "safety" or any other such drivel, it is about rendering you powerless to actively oppose any assault on you, your rights, your property, and even your very life itself.

Any other 'interpretation' is an utterly damnable lie...
