On Israel, no daylight between Trump and Obama
American Thinker ^ | December 4, 2015 | Lev Tsitrin

A few months ago, overhearing some ladies in the audience of a pro-Israel lecture trash Donald Trump, and clearly sensing that they were Obama fans, I turned to them and said, "At least he will be a huge improvement over the current inhabitant of the White House." They were greatly displeased.

But after reading this account of Mr. Trump's views on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, I think I owe those ladies an apology.

It turns out, after all, that Mr. Trump's views on the Middle East conflict are a carbon copy of Mr. Obama's. For one, Mr. Trump believes that it is up to Israel to make peace happen. He is apparently unaware of Palestinians' outright rejection of Israel's existence as a Jewish state. Secondly, Mr. Trump believes that solving the conflict is a central challenge, and so he promises to jump on it right at the onset of his presidency - as did Mr. Obama, having thought it was the key sore point that ruins the world's universal happiness.

I heard exactly the same thing. Trump was ready to protect Israel and Israel did not have to do anything it did not want to.

These Jews are shilling for Hillary.

The thing that the government doesn't like about Trump's Israel plan is he is going to talk to Palestine, then talk to Israel, then sit them both down and talk, give it six months...if nothing is resolved, then Israel can go Her way and the Palestine's can go their way...

Trump is not going to demand any thing of Israel, it's a Nation the same as America or Russia is, and no one has the right to tell another country what their going to do...it's that simple...and this corrupt government of the United States doesn't want to hear this...

Where did you see this “onus” business? I never heard Trump say this in his presentation before the Jewish audience. Total BS.

He said nothing of the kind. He did not want to tip his hand. You guys read too much into it. Trump is so pro Israel you must be blind. Trump said over and over again that Israel gave up too much as it is and has been treated very badly.

Did you listen to the speech?

Never listen to what the Leftist clown media say a Conservative or Republican said. Always look at the REAL statement.

What Trump actually said is that Israel would have to give up things for a deal. If Israel was UNWILLING to make those scarifies he would be fine with that.

What Trump said is he would basically stand the last 30 year of US-Israel relations on it head. Trump is saying he will end the current process of DC pressuring Israel to make deals Israel does not want.

I did listen to the speech, twice. He said Israel would have to be prepared to make more sacrifices to reach an agreement, or there would be no deal. He also would not commit to Jerusalem as the undivided capital of Israel.

Another lying trash article by the Trump hating Cruz pushers. You are not doing Cruz any favors with your vicious lies about Trump. You are just turning off Trump supporters who might have backed Cruz as a number two.

He also said that if Israel did not like the process it had every right to walk away. As far as committing to the capital business, I saw Trump as not making decisions for Israel.

Who is running Israel? Trump or Bibi. I saw Trump as deferring to Bibi for now and not making decisions for him. He will be meeting with him shortly and he simply does not tip his hand. People read too much into this. And the booing was one guy.

It was not a whole chorus. Please calm down and wait to see how things unfold.

Unless you have another candidate you want and this is your way to knock down Trump.

Didn't Lev used to post here?

And wrote that after the speech?

I actually watched the speech, if the other side(s) are that desperate to spin, they are so screwed. Trump received a sustained warm reception :

"...the onus for the lack of peace lies on the Jewish state, not the Palestinian Authority.."

He was saying that is how Israel has been treated in the past and up until now. It was not a prescription for how he would treat Israel. Go view the entire speech.

I read it at breitbart. I don’t have a dog in this fight. Besides facts don’t mean much to trump supporters.

I really don’t care if they booed him or not. No interest in watching trump, I really don’t care, have seen enough of him and don’t care if they all gave him hugs and kisses or they all booed him. I care nothing about anything Trump. I thought I was making a middle of the road statement - Cruz A, Trump C. That is a fact. And no, I don’t care if dems get all the Jewish vote anyway.

It does not match anything I have heard Trump say about Israel. This guy has an agenda...another candidate or he’s a Democrat. He’s kinda lying.
