You are very welcome. I was joking to my Mom (until I realized I wasn’t) that these days make me long for the Carter days. Still trying to get my head around that.
She and I are going to be working on our pistol permits over the holiday break before it’s too late. She’s in her 70’s and is ready to rock. Unfortunately we live in the Peoples Socialist Republic of Connecticut so it wouldn’t surprise me if a$$hat Malloy decides he wants to shut down any new applications. Of course it’s not legal but he doesn’t care.
Oh, and lest I forget... merry CHRISTmas! Take care and God bless.

We too had excellent experience with all the Sears appliances. The catalog store in our town was run by super great people, and I loved having the catalog to look through and order stuff.
We really miss that store. There is one in a town about 45 minutes away, but the guy that runs it is a jerk, so last time we needed something we went to Lowes and bought a Maytag.

Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition! I like how you and your Mom think. And, yes, Merry CHRISTmas to you and your Mom. I say this to everyone I meet. To hell with obozo in the White Hut and what he demands that We the People do, and what we can say.

Originally K-Mart bought Sears not Sears bought K-Mart as the article stated. It's a little bit murkier than that.
ESL Investments bought Kmart and formed Kmart Holdings. Then they bought Sears and formed Sears Holdings, into which Kmart holdings was absorbed. The original Kmart did not buy Sears, and the original Sears did not buy Kmart. ESL investments bought both and did some renaming.

From the article:
âExecutives blame weak results on warmer-than-usual fall weather that kept consumers from buying items like coats and gloves.â
There you have it. Sears is going down because of global warming...

This is sad, if only for sentimental and historical reasons. They were the pioneers of retailing. They sent out their catalogs and delivered to barely civilized boondocks out in the great plains where people really had few options. By doing that they created the idea of America being one giant marketplace. Just like how the internet spawned industries no one. could have concieved of at the time, Sears is a child of the railroads and telegraph. Sears was the Amazon of the day, a hundred years ago, with their huge catalog.
Whoever ran Sears in the early days of the Internet, really missed out on making Sears into what Amazon became.
