Attack Rubin and the Journal all you want. Cruz national security will be an anchor for Cruz if it continues to be the top issue on the minds of Republican primary voters. Expect Christie to go after him hard on this in the debate next week. Expect Donald Trump to follow Christie's lead on this one. Expect Bush and Rubio to pile on and attempt to lump Cruz in with Paul as often as possible.

I hope they do since most Americans are sick to death of the neocon rush to any war and domestic spying.

Except for perhaps Trump, I am not aware of any candidate who is advocating a rush to war. On the other hand, I don't expect this to be the last terrorist attack this nation is faced with in the next 14 months. I hope I'm wrong.

My point is not to bash Cruz. I think he would make a fantastic president. But, judging from your responses, each of you believes that he is a prefect candidate right now. The problem there is that the perfect candidate in November 2015, very likely won't be the same thing as the perfect candidate a year from now. Or, perhaps, a month from now. It is his right to adjust his positions, and I expect him to do so. But, make no mistake, the questions about national security will begin to be a liability for him, starting in the next week. Joe Voter hears the soundbite, and he'd better have a bag full of them. Again, I expect he will.
