Texas Sen. Ted Cruz said he'd be happy to hire Donald Trump to build a wall across the border of Mexico if he is elected president.
...
Jeff Kuhner, host of "The Kuhner Report" on WRKO in Boston, asked Cruz if he would build a wall himself, "And would you if you were president appoint Donald Trump to build that wall?" (Begins at 8:30 in the audio above.)
"Absolutely, yes on both fronts," Cruz answered.
Cruz said the plan he has detailed on his website will "build a wall that works," secure the border, triple the border patrol, increase fourfold the fixed wing and rotary wing aircraft, put in place a strong biometric exit/entry system on visas and put in place a strong e-Verify system.
"We know how to solve this problem, and we will end sanctuary cities, we will end welfare for people here illegally, we will end catch-and-release and we will deport criminal illegal aliens," Cruz said. "As president, I will secure the border and we will end illegal immigration."

Listen to Ted Cruz's remark at around 10:30-minute mark. He talked about deporting illegal aliens. It 's the law already. Clinton did it. GW did it.
LOL!
But if Trump were president he have the Mexicans pay for the wall. So Trump’s plan would be cheaper.
I question if Cruz would be supportive of a border wall if Trump was not making an issue of it.
No Cruz is right Trump would make darn sure that the Mexicans paid for every penny of the wall’s cost. He might even make the Treasure a little money off the deal!
Cruz’s has a multifaceted plan that would deport criminals, take away all jobs and public assistance, incentivizing illegals to leave on their own. He would not allow catch and release. As illegals come into contact with government agencies, they would be deported.
During Operation Wetback, five times as many illegals self deported as were removed by that program.
85% of illegals in California are on public assistance. That is a likely ratio in all states. Those being deported cuts a huge swath right there.
This is less expensive than simply using mass deportation, especially with the added cost of expediting and processing the return of “the good ones”.
Illegal immigration would not be at the forefront.
And it would be likely a fight between Cruz and Scott Walker, splitting the conservative vote, with Jeb Bush looking for an easy win.
Please . . . no more . . . I can't catch my breath . . .
Can you imagine a border wall with the name “Trump Wall” in large gold letters every 200 yards or so?
I can and the idea makes me laugh.
Ted Cruz has said we need 100% border control for years.

Cruz also distinguished himself from Dewhurst with his full-throated support for a border wall estimated by the Department of Homeland Security to cost $7.3 billion, or $6.5 million per mile.
So the me too/what about me? candidate suddenly, after all this time as a citizen and Senator from the border state of Texas is saying there should be a border wall...Gee I wonder why?
Trump would have us pay to deport the illegals; Cruz would have the (not additionally criminal) illegals deport themselves at their own expense. Where is there more to be saved, on the wall or on the deportations?
[...said he’d be happy to hire Donald Trump to build a wall...]
and now it begins...
There is a difference between border control and amnesty. Hannity said he intended to ask Cruz about amnesty earlier. Cruz has been coy about that. Anyone see that show?
Are you ever right?
We've multiple links going back at least 4 users where Cruz says he is for a wall.
President Ted Cruz. Good one, Ted. That’s the spirit!!
We’re used to it around here. Everything says TRUMP.
But I was gasping over the idea of Cruz hiring and firing Trump. Holding my sides.
Except...that will NEVER happen.
Gosh, common sense like that is refreshing!
But people seem just to be yearning for a confrontation, a mass deportation, and some candidates are playing to that.
The more it sinks in, the crazier it gets -- are people here seriously considering voting for a patriotic self-promoted celebrity as blatant as Donald Trump (switched parties thrice in 26 years, has a purely left-moderate political history) for president? As a Republican????
And I thought Romney was bizarre. I tell ya, truth is stranger than fiction.
