he's not the only person to wonder if Trump is really in it for the long haul or if he's not going to be distracted or derailed along the way.

Why would a billionaire risk his fortune and his family, grown children and grandchildren, as well as his reputation and his peace of mind for the rest of his life (and in these days of terrorism, become a target or have his towers become targets) -- just for kicks? No. He is in it from his heart. He just can't stand to see the destruction of what was a beautiful, hopeful, inspiring and productive country that has given him so much. He has estates all over the U.S. and Europe where he could retire and play golf; but I sincerely think he is a person who loves a challenge and brings many skills to our current dilemmas, especially the wreck of our economy.

TIME Magazine: What's the most significant learning experience in your life?

Donald Trump: Over my lifetime I've seen a lot of very smart people who were quitters. They never made it. And I've seen people that weren't as smart who never ever, ever gave up. And those were the people that made it. And I've seen it to this day. I've seen people that graduated... in school who were super geniuses. And they never made it. And I’ve seen people that were not as smart as them and they're the biggest people out there. And the ones that are the biggest people are the people that never gave up. It's something I've just observed over the years.

So I take it you're not giving up.
No, I don't give up.
