After more than three decades and five administrations, âChristmas in Washington,â the celebrity-packed holiday special attended by the first family, wonât be returning for its 34th holiday season.
No, the Grinch didnât have anything to do with it â at least we donât think he did.
After last yearâs show, hosted by Dwayne âThe Rockâ Johnson, TNT announced that it would no longer broadcast the Christmas special, ending a 15-year partnership with veteran producer George Stevens Jr. and his son, Michael. The Stevenses, who had just been ousted as the producers of the Kennedy Center Honors gala, said they were in search of a new broadcast partner.
But a new network sponsor was never found, and according to the Stevens Co., the 2014 broadcast was the last.
âChristmas in Washington,â which began in 1982, was like a grade-school pageant on steroids. The night was filled with marquee musicals acts such as Earth, Wind & Fire, Tim McGraw, Gloria Estefan, Justin Bieber and Mariah Carey, who crooned Christmas classics on stage while the first family and other Washington VIPs sang along from the audience.

Looking forward to Christmas time in 2017.

Muslims don’t celebrate Christmas...
His Arrogance just couldn’t stand another year’s infidel celebration .... if it ain’t Ramadan, it ain’t!
They still celebrate Eid al-Fitr in the Whitehouse.

Some do.
It depends on the “denomination/sect”.
Some Christian sects don’t “celebrate” Christmas.
More than a few, have been trying to cancel the mostly secular/Pagan Christmas celebrations for hundreds of years in the USA alone.
Not even counting the worldwide numbers of various sects of “devout Christians” who eschew the celebration of the birth of Christ, favoring instead the celebration of his death.
Just saying...
.
Trump ought to pick up the sponsorship and he can ride it to the WH.
***âdevout Christiansâ who eschew the celebration of the birth of Christ, favoring instead the celebration of his death.***
Christians celebrate the RESURRECTION.
I was going to write those exact four words. After seven years, the farce can be done away with.
“sects of âdevout Christiansâ who eschew the celebration of the birth of Christ, favoring instead the celebration of his death.”
I tend to celebrate His birth and resurrection.
But ‘Ramadan in Washington’ is still a go.
ObamaAssLampreys [OALs] aside, everyone else knows the score...
The problem though is that, without Christimas, there would be no Easter. The two are forever united.
Amen .. and Amen!
Obviously.
Since I am over 50, I have lived through several decades of the annual attacks from extremists at each end of the religious spectrum, combining together against a mostly secular society attempting to “celebrate Christmas”.
Christmas is my favorite holiday
I love all the traditional to the USA songs of the season - The First Noel, Away in the Manger,Silent Night, and The Little Drummer Boy along with Santa Claus is Coming to Town,Jingle Bell Rock and Frosty The Snowman.
To those who enjoy being perpetually offended, I’ll say what I’ve always said.
Merry Christmas!
