A Ted Cruz moment for me
Legal Insurrection ^ | Sunday, November 29, 2015 | William A. Jacobson

The confidence to engage rather than avoid.

This video has been around since July. I had heard about it, but never watched it. I’m not sure how, but I stumbled upon it last night.

In the video, Ted Cruz’s rally opposing the Iran nuclear deal was interrupted by Medea Benjamin and other Code Pink protesters.

Cruz could have reacted many ways. He could have shouted down the people shouting him down. He could have insulted them. He could have had security push them away.

But instead, he engaged. That’s what was important to me. The confidence to engage rather than avoid. Standing face to face with hostile protesters was very Andrew Breitbart-like.

When you watch this video, forget who won the argument, but focus on Cruz’s willingness to debate the leader of Code Pink, someone used to grabbing the spotlight. Cruz reduced Benjamin to a sideshow rather than center stage. It’s almost as if she was not there.

For me, watching it was a Ted Cruz moment.

Realistically ?

All that Trump has talked about is only “ talk “ and in theory only.

Talk is cheap, promises are made to be broken after the election is over.

All that supposed wall is ? Is a paper wall, a empty promise unless it is fulfilled.

It’s called : Political Rhetoric during a political campaign season.

One political slogan that Adolf Hitler used to win over “ The people “ ( yes, Hitler was a populist ) was to promise them “ the people’s car “ and a “ Chicken in every pot “

Trump’s Wall is like Global Warming, In Theory Only.

Only a paper wall at this point.

Your here to bash Trump bashers on a Ted Cruz thread ?

Sticking out like a sore thumb.

Don’t be surprised to get a rebuke from Ted Cruz supporters here.

I just recently watched that myself and had a similar reaction...
I don’t really like Cruz on the campaign, and have not been a fan of his performance thus far... Even though I agree with him on most issues.
Here, I saw him for the first time, as a leader... as a President.

Fun, fun, fun.

Remember four years ago when there were several candidates that had absolutely no chance of winning? They could have dropped out of the race and likely denied Romney the nomination but stayed in and ensured Romney's success. Newt was one of them, and Cruz is one this year. The GOPe has no intention of letting Cruz get anywhere near the Oval, or Trump either for that matter and they have no problem using Cruz to damage Trump.

Trump is truly a candidate that appeals to disgruntled voters of all stripes no other candidate does that.

Off topic but Ted Cruz has the coolest ugly Christmas sweater on his site.

https://store.tedcruz.org/product/cruz-limited-edition-christmas-sweater/

It would make a great holiday gift for a FReeper who has everything. :)
