Beatham said her intent would not be to kill, but to disable an attacker.

"Just easily pop him in the kneecap. They're down. They're on the floor. You've got time to call 911," she said.

Hopefully she will get an instructor that will dispel this silly idea.

Unless she has some Zen like calm about her she like everyone else will have a huge surge of adrenaline when some huge guy jumps out of the shadows and attacks her unexpectedly.

With muscles twitching and heart pounding it is pretty hard to hit a four square inch moving target that a knee cap would be even at a range of ten feet.

I don't care if you want to kill your attacker or not when your life is in danger you aim for center mass and fire until the attacker is down or running away.

The attacker decided his life was worthless when he decided to threaten yours so waste no pity on him. He has none for you.

Your life is the most important thing you have and you don't mess around when someone is threatening the only life you have.

I agree 100%. Besides the fact that if you think there is reason enough to shoot someone, there is reason enough to kill them, IMO. Secondly, this sounds calculating but in legal terms the cost of a life ended is less than crippling them for life in disability.
