Garrett Swasey, 44, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs police officer who was shot and killed while responding to a shooting at a Planned Parenthood office, was described by his fellow church members and friends as a courageous man and loving father who drew strength and inspiration from his Christian faith. He was married, with two young children, and had been on the campus police force for six years. He also spent seven years as a co-pastor at Hope Chapel in Colorado Springs. âHereâs a guy who worked full time as a police officer, and then gave a great amount of time to his local church and didnât get a dime for it,â said Scott Dontanville, a co-pastor who knew Officer Swasey for 15 years. âHe did it because it was the thing that he felt he needed to do.â
Kurt Aichele, a co-pastor at the church and a close friend, said Officer Swasey was once a nationally ranked figure skater and ice dancer and moved to Colorado Springs years ago to train.
Mr. Aichele said Officer Swasey frequently responded to dangerous calls off campus. One of his bedrock beliefs was putting other peopleâs lives before his own, Mr. Aichele said.

âShe had to tell her kids that their daddy wasnât coming home,â Mr. Aichele said.
RIP Officer Swasey. Prayers for his family.
May his Memory be Eternal!
Feel so sorry for him and his family . . . and let’s not forget how many babies were slaughtered in that Planned Predator building that same day . . . not even mentioned in that news orgy.
RIP Officer.
May He give you one of the better mansions in his house.
IMHO
Not going down that road here. He was a good man and was not responsible for that.
"Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon him.
May the souls of the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God, rest in peace."Amen.
Officer Swasey and I were in Cub Scouts together, my mother was the den mother. I’m shocked and saddened by this. Far too young for this to happen. My prayers to his family.
Amen to that.
From what we saw on TV this morning, he was a good and wonderful man. His poor family is now without a husband and father.
I’m sure he will be sadly missed by many people. I feel so badly for his wife and children, who will be haunted every year on what is to be a joyous season.
What do you mean here?
I have yet to read what I read in the Colorado Springs news - this was a botched bank robbery. Boy, the libs just are loving that the guy holed up in PP. Makes their day. Lord we lift this family up.
Prayers to you as well, as you knew him when he was an innocent boy and a childhood friend, that is your memory, which makes it very real for you.
Agree. I read about the botched bank robbery in that news story. It really HAS disappeared now. I wonder if the real story will ever surface again.
I find it ironic, that one of the alphabet channel this morning, interviewed a PP assistant. She said the “Killer had a look of no remorse, no feelings whatsoever who he was killing” I’m like Lady meet Kettle.
The story was most likely false. If you think the people in charge of Colorado Springs are liberals creating a false narrative then you have never been there.
Seesh, how crude of you.
If I had posted that, out of extreme shame I would ask it be deleted at once.
I wouldn’t want anyone to see my heartlessness.
I urge you both to pray to the eternal, almighty God, and not to any man or family.
Matthew 10
28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
29 Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.
30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
31 Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.
Psalms 116
15 Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.
