D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier is an outspoken proponent of gun control (in a district which already has some of the strictest gun laws in the nation). So, when asked by 60 Minutes how people should respond to being near an active gunman, Lanier's response was bemusing as The Washington Times reports, saying that the "best option for saving lives before police can get there†would be for citizens to try to subdue, or even kill, the gunman.

The typical thoughts a liberal ignoramus. Beautiful ideas for harmonious living are upended when reality strikes; requiring then an application of common sense of which they are sorely lacking.
A liberal family member told me she doesn’t need a gun, she has a baseball bat. That might work, if the gunman is in your strike zone. But it will more than likely get you killed.
I guess she will relying on the ‘bangers to do the job since they are the ones with guns.
Liberals are not bothered by hypocrisy.

CCW is for self defense not open gun battles with AK’s. If we get in the middle of a Paris scenario we will run like rabbits maybe throwing a little shade from our handguns as we go. That’s about it.
Oh I don't know, you use what you got. If you have a handgun in a Paris scenario and you run away with full magazine while unarmed people are being executed, your gun's not the problem.
I would be running to get my AR.
A) A hypocrite? (I.e., she realizes she's given bad advice, then advises the opposite when the Going Gets Tough.)
OR
B) Afflicted with cognitive dissonance? (I.e., one part of her brain just doesn't know what the other part is doing?)
You must remember that shooters in this situation are pumped with adrenaline just like their prey. This gives the shooter the same tunnel vision as their prey. They have extreme focus and lose all peripheral vision.
This means if they are looking directly at you they probably don’t see you. So if you are a CCW holder and armed in this situation unload on the POS.

I would absolutely shoot a terrorist if I could get a clean easy shot and then keep moving. Standoff in the theatre no way. I think you are likely right about the tunnel vision.
