It wouldn’t surprise me if its the same projectile. But Remington claims they’ve optimized the cartridge for short barrels. I can tell you that it feeds flawless in my XDS. For me the recoil is very manageable. It’s also very accurate out to 7 yards or so.

For many years I competed in 25 yard "pistol" competition with my 4" 686+ and hand-loaded 38SPL. Most matches I could hold 95 pts or better on a target. This year I succumbed to the urge to have a 9mm pistol. The short barrel Ruger LC9s and S&W M&P Shield are not competition class firearms. A 2 inch pattern at 7 yards is typical with Blazer 9mm FMJ. The Sig P238 (380) is a little tighter due to the single action trigger. I still shoot a revolver in SA more accurately, but they are bulky for CCW.

My 38SPL competition load used West Coast Bullet 138 gr DEWC over 3.8 gr Win 231 powder. I'm having trouble finding components for that at the current time. The Win296/H110 that I favor for 300 BLK, 357mag, 44mag and 454 Casull is never in stock anymore.
