Russia to boycott Turkish goods; 'We'll buy from Israel instead'

Russia ups retaliatory action after downing of jet by Turkey; looks to ban Turkish agricultural imports amid other 'restrictive measures.'

Russia is preparing a raft of retaliatory economic measures against Turkey after Ankara downed one of its warplanes, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said Thursday - with Israel among several countries likely to benefit as Moscow looks for alternative trading and tourism partners.

"The government has been ordered to work out a system of response measures to this act of aggression in the economic and humanitarian spheres," Medvedev told a cabinet meeting in televised comments.

He said under Russian law the broad punitive steps could include halting joint economic projects, restricting financial and trade transactions and changing customs duties.

Measures could also target the tourism and transport sectors, labor markets and "humanitarian contacts", Medvedev said.

The measures would then likely be listed in a decree from President Vladimir Putin, Medvedev said.

"In these documents the focus will be on introducing limits or bans on the economic activities of Turkish economic structures working in Russia, a limitation of the supply of products, including food products, and on the work and provision of services by Turkish companies and other restrictive measures," Medvedev said. ...

Oh, ok. I thought you might have been...

A teeny-booper's lie and attempt to deflect what you can't defend. If you think churches aren't licensed in America, go try to start one. Get the 501C exemption while your at it. Don't forget to stop by the planning commissioner's office.

You now appear to be a fountain of frivolous arguments, like a pig who loves wallowing in mud - but not someone a thinking person would care to engage for serious and thoughtful discourse, even after forgoing the slimmest chance of respectfulness.

Have a good one - whatever that might be for you. Obama.

Well, we know that the Russian government pays people to post comments favoring Russia on websites. So the motive of the troll merely might be financial. For others, it might be ideological. For even others (such as a Paultard), it simply is stupidity.

Those intent on hating the USSR back into existence forget, if they ever knew, what living with the threat of MAD was like.

Dude, where have you been? Even the Russian Foreign Ministry says the Cold War is on.

” FDR and Churchill did not turn over leadership of the war effort to Stalin.’

Hitler’s air war against England was stalemated; he didn’t have the naval resources to invade across the channel, the bombing of London accomplished nothing.

Both the bombing of London and Germany’s attack of the USSR happened a year before Pearl Harbor. The brunt of the war was taken by the Russians before the US even came in.

Leadership of the war is time dependent at best. I don’t recall Soviet troops ever coming under allied command.

Well, since you want to try being "kind" now:

How many US churches have been turned into mosques?

How many muslims have been imported?

I recently saw 680,000 since '09.

And since you've mentioned it, just how many churches have closed in the US?

"Every year more than 4000 churches close their doors compared to just over 1000 new church starts!"

No, Stalin would never have permitted that. And, I do not blame him for that. Similarly, the Western world did not then and will not now place western troops under Russian command.

But, that does not mean that we cannot coordinate our efforts to defeat ISIS. We should. However, we will necessarily remain at arms length because Russia has allied itself with Iran and Assad. We cannot expect the Western world to become too cozy too soon with either Iran or Assad. But, over time, who knows? Maybe there will be a new relationship develop with iran. The Iranian people do not seem hostile to us.

Agreed. The real danger here is a nuclear Iran. Maybe increasing trade between Russia and Israel will end up being an easter egg.

Listen, were you trying to stay on point, or did you understand at the start that your last comment has no relevance to our discussion? I’m guessing the latter.

LOL. You never know! The future is very hard to predict and impossible to control. I promise that I will try to attend Putin’s bar mitzvah. ;-)
