Russia ups retaliatory action after downing of jet by Turkey; looks to ban Turkish agricultural imports amid other 'restrictive measures.'
Russia is preparing a raft of retaliatory economic measures against Turkey after Ankara downed one of its warplanes, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said Thursday - with Israel among several countries likely to benefit as Moscow looks for alternative trading and tourism partners.
"The government has been ordered to work out a system of response measures to this act of aggression in the economic and humanitarian spheres," Medvedev told a cabinet meeting in televised comments.
He said under Russian law the broad punitive steps could include halting joint economic projects, restricting financial and trade transactions and changing customs duties.
Measures could also target the tourism and transport sectors, labor markets and "humanitarian contacts", Medvedev said.
The measures would then likely be listed in a decree from President Vladimir Putin, Medvedev said.
"In these documents the focus will be on introducing limits or bans on the economic activities of Turkish economic structures working in Russia, a limitation of the supply of products, including food products, and on the work and provision of services by Turkish companies and other restrictive measures," Medvedev said. ...

Help me out on your last comment: you are complaining that I observed a failure in your logic (suggesting that I am an Obama supporter), by suggesting I am an Obama supporter? You Russians are funny.
What could Turkey sell you and why would you buy it, knowingly? They are Muslims.
I tend to agree. Keep a close on Putin, back him against the Islamists, and give no quarter to his trolls on FR.
Turkey buys 60% of its natural gas from Russia....No more. Freeze MFers.
Again, I appreciate your efforts to link me with Obama . . . keep trying. I need the laugh.
“back him against the Islamists”
Sounds like you’re softening up toward Vlad. Nice to see somebody who’s mature enough to adjust his positions to the evidence
What evidence? The dictator is propping-up a miniature Islamist version of himself.
Hey, I’m just taking note of your own words, and offering congratulations
But I hesitate to call them trolls, and here's why. Most average Americans were rooting for Stalin to kick Nazi butt in WW II. Many of those folks (non-reds) advanced a picture of Stalin as kindly old pipe-smoking Uncle Joe.
Were those folks back in WWII Stalinist trolls? No, I see them more as people who simply did not want to see the full picture. Or people who felt Stalin's good outweighed his bad(!). But not trolls.
Just my two cents.
That being said, not everyone expressing pro-Putin sentiment here is a troll, but it's sad to watch the trolls play the oblivious for suckers.
Harems?
They are the world’s leading supplier of Hazelnuts. No where near as good of quality as Oregon grown Hazelnuts but they are by far the grower of the most pounds of Hazelnuts.
What products does Turkey even make?
How about terrorists.
Yep, this is all preliminary and Putin will not forget the shoot down and killing of his pilot.
Good question. I just had to look it up. Apparently, Turkey's biggest export product is cars. Can you imagine that? Well, the Russian people are just going to go elsewhere for cars, I guess. ;-)
If you don't mind, I'd like to explore that a little further.
Let's say a far-leftie registered here on FR and started posting Democrat talking points. And he did so not because he particularly believed those points, but because he wanted to advance the Democrat Party cause. Propaganda and disruption, that is his agenda. That person would be a troll.
Are you saying that some folks here are trying to advance Russia's cause, or cause disruption, without regard to the truth of their arguments? If so, why? Are they Russian nationals?
Please don't think I'm being sarcastic here. I'm really curious as to your opinion on this.
Yeah, but their brand is kinda the knock-off, “Dollar Store” quality. If you want the good stuff, you need to go to Iran or Saudi Arabia.
You get what you pay for!
“Turkish Delight?”
I had always heard about that. So I actually located some and tried it. Really bad stuff. Its hard to imagine that was ever a rage. Told me the world then was really awful if they got excited about that,
I think Russia should demand that all muslim junk and artifacts be removed from the Hagia Sophia and that this building be returned to the Orthodox Church (Greek I think) and that regular Christian services be resumed there without muslim interference. And any muslim structures surrounding it or on the grounds of the basilica that represent arrogant Islamic supremacy and conquest be removed. Only then should Russia say that relations will improve.
