FIRST DEGREE...?
There ARE some questions, here, sure, but I’m to believe the cop PREMEDITATED this..?
That’s ridiculous, and it sounds like a prosecutor trying to kiss BLM a$s.
SMELLS LIKE FERGUSON.
Does a taser work on PCP guys?
I’ll tell you this. I don’t want to get in taser range of a guy on PCP with a knife to find out.
I don’t want to do that at all.
Fear for his life with the first shot or two. After that, we don’t know what he was thinking.
"We charged him with first degree murder. What more could we possibly have done?"
Maybe they’ll burn down Grove Parc Plaza.
I only became familiar with this today when a breaking news flash announced the video release. But, in the video you can see some apparent evidence that shots hit the road surface in front of the guy’s by then prone body. If he had a knife and went down after a few shots, it would seem reasonable to stop at that point. Dunno, just glad it’s not me confronting street thugs.
I admit I know few of the facts and will wait to see what emerges as evidence and not as speculation.
Now in general, consider a thought experiment where the race roles are reversed. Large urban underclass of hyper violent white males who present a constant challenge to a largely black police force. Is there any reason to assume you would have either more or less incidents like this?
Discuss among yourselves.
No, please no, my granddaughter and her husband live and work there. She loves it. Well, did.
I see that their are protests on Michigan avenue on CNN right now.
Mark my words, there will not be violence or looting anywhere near the magnificent mile or the loop. Maybe somewhere in the projects, but not Michigan Ave. Folks won’t put up with it.
The dash-cam shows no credible threat to any of the of the officers.
Must be hard to hire cops in Chicago.
Exactly, and that’s why the second cop should be ready to blast the perp if the taser is ineffective because of the PCP.
Also this:
“The law enforcement model, Taser X-26, has a maximum effective range of 25 feet and fires a 5-second cycle.”
Well, that is a valid point, but what if the cop is found guilty of 1st degree murder, and the conviction is upheld?
I don’t think I would have fired. But I don’t know. A person can close the gap real quick with a knife, and then you are in real trouble even with a gun.
And I have no idea how fast someone on PCP can move, or if such a person will even notice that they got shot.
This seems like a problematic shooting, but PCP kind changes it into a really volatile situation.
Did the cop who shot know the guy was on PCP?
I don’t know.
There is no forethought and malice that I can detect form the video. First degree is an overreach if there is not much more evidence.
First degree murder has to be pre planed..????
It's a little disappointing that "Laquan" didn't make Cosby's list.
Once you look at the video you might agree with the charge. It is hard to tell though from the video if there is a pause in the gunfire. It has been said the officer shot the victim a couple of times. Then paused. Then unloaded the rest of the clip.
It is interesting to note that if video did not exist, the officer would still be on the force.
LOL! And this isn’t funny, but lol.
If true, he shot this guy 16 times...he deserves prison. If it were you or I, we’d be facing charges as well. 1..2..3 the suspect prolly wouldn’t be getting up. If he did...4.
Not knowing the case...
What was it, besides brandishing a knife and not following orders, was Loquan supposed to have done?
What precipitated the police being called?
Seems kind of harsh to unload on the guy when there were more than enough police on the scene to take him into custody without shooting him.
Personally, I think they probably should have tried something else before open firing.
I don’t know what that would be, maybe bean bag gun or something.
I certainly wouldn’t want a dog sent in, because I love dogs, even police dogs, and I wouldn’t want one stabbed by some PCPed out demon.
But seems like they shoulda tried something.
All I can say is that i am really glad this is not my job.
Holy Heck.
