Concur with you 100% that local police do not need APC hardware parked behind the station house.
Police apparently struggle with the "us v. them" mentality and over-the-top military equipment is part of the issue.

Until something like Paris happens on a local level...then we can all just stand down untill the military arrives... An hour or so...see how many people die while we can’t get somewhere to engage the turds... Because patrol vehicles don’t stop rifle rounds...
