The actor was interviewed with five other A-listers for The Hollywood Reporter‘s Actor Roundtable conversation when he was asked whether prejudice had affected his decades-long acting career.
“My wife and I were just having this conversation, and we were going to the dictionary for ‘prejudice’ versus ‘racism,'” Smith replied, adding:
Everybody is prejudiced. Everybody has their life experiences that make them prefer one thing over another — it makes them prefer blond hair over a brunette; if you see somebody with dark skin walking down the street, you have a different reaction than you have [with] someone who is 5-foot-1 and white. But there is a connotation with racism of superiority: You feel that your race generally is superior. And I have to say, I live with constant prejudice, but racism is actually rare — someone who thinks their race is superior. I don’t want to work for them. I don’t want to work at that company. And the times I have come in contact with it, you get away from those people.

It’s refreshing to hear someone who doesn’t believe racism is rampant.
How did his son get so screwed up ?

BTW, an oldie-but-goodie of his movies for me is “Enemy of the State”.
Actors lives matter.
Smith is a BIG Lefty. But in an interview in France, when he heard that the top tax bracket there is 75%, he was shocked and actually said, ‘well then, God Bless America’. I think Hollywood would have to rethink their Liberal positions if they were to suddenly be taxed at that rate.
Will better watch out. He gave an intelligent and thoughtful response to a question. That is not permitted in Hollywood.

“Enemy of the State†- perhaps my fav Gene Hackman film...and so close to reality.

Screw Will Smith and his ilk. After 911 he was all about racism.
right...because in the media’s eyes, blacks can only be prejudiced but whites are prejudiced and racist.

He may regret “going to the dictionary” for the definitions of prejudice and racism. Why so? Because the left does not bother themselves with traditional word definitions. Think I’m kidding? Well, I ask you—what is the definition of the word, “fair”? You and I know perfectly well that the word, fair means to treat each person equally, which would auger in favor of a flat income tax, right? But, to the left—no, no, no. They have redefined “fairness” to mean equaling out perceived inequalities. So, the word fair means nothing like the dictionary definition.
Mr. Smith may find himself in heap big trouble for having the temerity to actually accept the traditional, historical definitions of racism and prejudice.

Man, I'm always pondering racism and prejudice like this! Typical Sunday morning conversation with my wife.
More than interesting, it’s the truth. Racism is rare but it exists in all levels of society in the US. But the gross numbers are very small when compared to the population.
If you really want to see large numbers, you can find them in Europe. Contrary to generally accepted thinking.
Prejudices are everywhere..
Blonds are stupid...
Southerners are inbred.
People with brown eyes are full of ____.
Mexicans are lazy...
Norwegian jokes..
Polish jokes.
Even Black jokes.
None of this is racist unless carried farther where it is evident that there is broad dislike or even hatred for a individuals race or ethnicity.
This is how racism was defined when I went to school in the 50s-60s...
Since then, the definition has been bastardized by the left.
