American forces made one of their most effective hits against the Islamic State on Nov. 15, when U.S. planes destroyed 116 tanker trucks used by the terrorist organization to transport the stolen oil that is its financial lifeblood.
American A-10 and C-130 warplanes targeted a group of about 300 trucks near Abu Kamal, in Syria. Given that the Islamic State is thought to have just over 1,000 trucks in its entire fleet, the group of 300 represented a huge target for U.S. planes.
At a Pentagon news conference last Wednesday, reporters wanted to know why American forces did not take out more than 116 trucks. Why not all 300, or something close to that? A U.S. official said the American attackers simply ran out of ammunition.
"There were 300, I think, to begin with, and then you hit 116. Why didn't you go back?

Or stop the Terrorist in Chief from arming our enemies by straight up handing them weapons or giving them the key to the warehouse.
Do all you Generals-in-Pajamas really believe that even the imbecilic ISIS pukes had all those trucks neatly parked in one spot for easy targeting?
The Russians have been "oil-tanker-hunting" for quite a while now. Don't you understand that the ragheads have scattered and hid their tankers all over the desert to limit losses, by now?
Does no one remember "tank plinking" and "SCUD hunting" from Desert Shield / Desert Storm? All done and over in a single strike, right?
Good grief!!!

Man, I really miss the genuine "Old FReepers", who thought before they posted and took off their tinfoil hats before they did so!
Imagine electing a president named Adolph in 1948....
In 2008, half of American voters elected a god while angrily proclaiming “How DARE you imply Barack {Hussein} Obama is a muslim?!”
The fools are the ones who voted for them. And there are a LOT of them.
Agreed. And if I’m not mistaken, he had the military drop leaflets that provided the drivers with advance notice to abandon the trucks before the attack commenced.
“The fools are the ones who voted for them. And there are a LOT of them.”
Do you remember the election last year? When we all voted for candidates who pledged to stop Obama? And they won, and they lied? The voters did only what they could, they voted. It is not the voters this time who are the fools, it is the elected representatives.
Hulka Ping. A-10’s muzzie tanker truck plinkin’?!
Given the count of Mk-82’s (500lb per bomb), that tells me there were likely two A-10s involved in the strike.
A couple of A-10s and an AC-130. . .116 isn’t that bad a count.
Why wasn’t an entire squadron of A-10s dedicated to this mission as we knew where this staging area was and we knew how many targets were in the area.
At any rate, the Hog Drivers were having a ball. . .that is for certain and for sure.
The Messiah is not serious, just shamed into doing “something.”
There was a photo a week ago of a Russian attack on a bunch of fuel trucks. It looked like 10 trucks were lined up practically touching bumpers on the side of the road. All in flames.
I have heard about units having to cancel their annual qualifications due to lack of ammo.
I believe that our armed forces are strong on the outside, but pretty rusty on the inside. Sure, we can fire cruise missiles, we can drop a couple of JDAMs. But I doubt we could project a land force much further than their current positions.
I could be wrong, but if we are challenged in a serious manner we would not be able to respond conventionally for very long.
This is not a statement about the people of our services, but about the management.
It doesn't take a whole lot of dispersal to where the attacker has to expend one bomb per truck -- instead of taking out nine or more at a time.
When you're in that state, you're soon back to guns only... And, even in slo-mo, the GAU-8 only has a limited number of bursts available... Same for the AC-130...
I would think that the pilots would be as charged up to get a swing at those muzzie tanker trucks as Piranha going after a sinking cattle boat!
Indeed. . .a dream.
