Putin: Russia will not tolerate such crimes as attack against its Sukhoi-24 plane

According to the president, the attack against Su-24 plane in Syria goes beyond normal struggle against terrorism, and it is "a stab in Russia's back" delivered by "terrorism accomplices"

SOCHI, November 24. /TASS/. Russia will not tolerate crimes like the attack on the Russian Su-24 fighter jet shot down by Turkish AA-forces in Syrian skies, President Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday at a meeting with King of Jordan Abdullah II.

"I understand each country has its own regional interests, and we have always respected that. But we shall never tolerate crimes like today's one," the President said.

He expressed hope "the international community will find the forces to unite in the face of this common evil (terrorism)."

The Russian leader stressed that the Russian Su-24 fighter-bomber was posing no threat to Turkey.

"Anyway, our pilots and jet posed no threat to the Turkish Republic. This is obvious. They were conducting an operation against ISIL," Putin said at the meeting with King Abdallah II of Jordan.

He said the plane was flying above northern Lattakia where militants coming from Russia are concentrated.

"They [the pilots] were fulfilling their task," the president stressed adding that they were delivering preventive air strikes on terrorists who can come back to Russia at any moment.

Putin called the attack a crime and stressed that Russia would not tolerate it. According to the president, the Su-24 plane crash in Syria goes beyond normal struggle against terrorism, and it is "a stab in Russia's back delivered by terrorist accomplices."

Sounds like Turkey is about to get hit back.

This is Turkey’s fault, and they started it.

Yeah I expect Russia to hit some Turkish targets.

Again Turkey started it by defending the Terrorist ISIS.

The Russian leader stressed that the Russian Su-24 fighter-bomber was posing no threat to Turkey.

It speaks volumes that he did NOT say the Russian Su-24 hadn't violated Turkey's airspace.

I’ll bet at least five or six Russians ships are being sent into the region and would be there by this weekend. As stupid as the US has been in the past year...we might be stupid enough to try to counter the Russians and find some of our own aircraft shoot down. You can bet that no other European country will side with the Turks or the US. It’s almost scripted for a five-star moment (like some Austrian prince shot in 1914).

The part that jumped out at me is Putin trying to kill militants from Russia before they return.

President of Russia and yet he still manages to squeeze-in time for doing stand-up. How does he manage it?

Another story says that the plane was 1 km outside Turkish airspace. That’s the Russian position.

Doesn't matter. The Turks shot first. That makes NATO the clear aggressor.

Russia will not hit Turkey and risk war. No sympathy for Putin who shot down a civilian airliner over Ukraine.

I disagree. If it’s “No threat to Turkey” then it was over Syria.

Although even if it was shot down over Turkey. I don’t think Putin will not respond.

Turkey is about to get hit back, and I imagine it will be hard too.

Turkey started this by being an allies with the evil ISIS.

Unlike the dear leader in the White Hut, Putin actually means what he says and will do something about it.

“This is Turkey’s fault, and they started it.”

False Russian propaganda again. The radar tracks show the SU-24 overflying Turkish territory rather than flying around it. Russia has been using its radars to lock-on to Turkish air defense fighters to intimidate them since October’s incident and ignored many warnings in this incident.

Make no mistake about it, Turkey is no longer a secular muslim nation, radicals have been slowly moving that nation away from its secular foundings and toward theocratic rule.

That said however, I have little doubt Russia has been flagrantly violating their airspace in their air war in Syria.

This one will get interesting, Putin is not Obama, if he makes a threat, he’ll follow through... Last thing we need is Nato having to step in to help defend Turkey from Russia and start WWIII, particularly when the primary threat is fundamentalist islam that both sides should be trying to destroy.

It may have been outside Turkish airspace when it was shot down, but if the radar maps posted all over these threads are accurate then there’s no question that it had flown over Turkey.

Sounds like Turkey is about to get hit back.

Diplomatically, perhaps. Almost certainly not militarily.

Unless they want to lob some nukes, there is not much militarily Russia can do to Turkey - and Turkey is a NATO member too.

“Russia will not hit Turkey and risk war.”

That’s not the way Putin sounded this morning.
The big question is, what was the Russian plane doing there in the 1st place? Trying to provoke the Turks?

That’s debatable. No one is really certain for sure.

I am willing to believe is was George Soros who is openly funding Ukraine forces that did it and not Russia.

Putin seems to be trying to avoid war while the EU seems gung ho for war chaos.

Just look how they are letting ISIS come into Europe and cause chaos.

They did the same thing in the Ukrine. They were even caught planning it. That video went viral.
