A RUSSIAN helicopter has been downed while searching for the pilots who ejected from their burning jet after it was shot down this morning while flying over Syria, according to unconfirmed reports.

You forget who the Commander in Chief is.
How much help did Russia get from the west in the battle of Stalingrad, early in the war. Capturing 80,000+ and turning the tide of the war?
First of all, glancing at my globe, shows that hitting Syria from Russia via CONUS is impossible. Second, to answer your question, we KNOW what the reply would be:
That's very interesting, if true.
“Why do ppl side with Turkey and ISIS on here? Russia are our allies against ISIS. Hindering Russia = hindering our objective to destroy ISIS”
Turkey is our actual ally, for better or (mostly) worse; and Russia did not enter Syria to fight Isis. We clearly don’t have a strategic “objective” to destroy Isis, or we’d have done it already. Pulling for the Russians to accidently accomplish something our own government is mostly ignoring is a bit pathetic. And Russia has been routinely violating the airspace of NATO countries and finally stepped over the line with the craziest of them. IF Russia overflew Turkey again after being warned repeatedly formally and informally, then they can’t claim to be a victim here. I take Turkey’s word for it on the location of Russian aircraft given the fact that they’re using our equipment to do the tracking.
This isn’t going to go well. Putin isn’t going to adhere by the rules of ‘appropriate response’.
Obama should resign. His own party should be calling for it.
Hasn't happened so far and, god willing, never will. There are "talks" but it's a lot of kabuki.
It’s a tough day for Moscow. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reports that Syrian fighters destroyed a Russian helicopter with a missile, shortly after they forced it to make an emergency landing in a nearby government-held area in Syria’s Latakia province.
A Syrian insurgent group, which receives US Tow missiles, said its fighters hit the helicopter with an anti-tank missile while it was in the air and put out a video showing the helicopter being blown up after one of its fighters struck it with another missile.
Rami Abdulrahman from the Observatory said at least 10 people were on the helicopter when it was hit but they were all evacuated when it landed and before the missile destroyed it.
Not usually. Especially not in the Middle East. By and large in the Mid East what you get is 3 or 4 enemies who are busy infighting but they’ll get to you in a minute and you should stay the hell out of it. None of the involved parties in the Syrian mess are our friends. All of them have at one point or another attacked us, and whoever wins will resume attacking us as soon as they can.
They can’t fight Turkey conventionally. Putin can choose any set of rules he’d like, he doesn’t have many options to deal with Turkey. If Russia would like the Black Sea fleet stuck in the Black Sea permanently they can feel free to pick a fight.
The Guardian reports, In what appears to be a separate incident, another Syrian rebel group - the Free Syrian Army’s First Coastal Division - says it has destroyed a Russia helicopter on Turkmen Mountain, using a TOW anti-tank missile, writes Louisa Loveluck, Middle East Correspondent.
If this incident is confirmed, then the existence of a proxy war with Russia and Iran via American-backed forces in Syria is a reality.

The war wasn't won in 1941, early 42, it was just "not lost"; big difference. Anyway, the Russians WERE receiving lend lease prior to and at the time of Stalingrad. They didn't do it on their own, and would have lost had it not been for the Western capitalism Russia spent the next 60 years trying to destroy.
According to our leader ISIS is contained and we need to worry about importing poor refugees.
Seems pretty obvious Putin was trying to manufacture an incident. Presumably to get US aircraft out of Syria. Now that he’s got a couple of shish kabob’d Russkie pilot martyrs I imagine Russian AA radar will start engaging US aircraft in Syria, etc. Then kenyan will run so fast from Syria it will make your head spin.
According to this article the Turks shot the pilots as they descended under their parachutes.

The U.S. military on Tuesday labeled as an “incursion” the Russian fighter jet that was shot down by Turkish aircraft over the Syria-Turkey border.
Army Col. Steve Warren, the top military spokesman in Baghdad, confirmed the Turk’s version of events in saying they repeatedly warned the two Russian SU-24 pilots to back off.

Well, U.S. aircraft have no business in Syria to begin with.
I expect Russia to start hitting ISIS oil trucks heading into Turkey. That would be a great response. Unfortunately, we won't hear much about it.
Get pissed Putin!
