RE: Cruz’s team seems to actually, literally be shifting to a ânicer, gentler,â compassionate conservatism with recent statements
I question the notion that Cruz’s conservatism is NOT compassionate.
Just last year, when there were a flood of children crossing our borders from the Latin American countries, Cruz actually joined Glenn Beck for ‘Soccer Balls and Teddy Bears’ Event.
See here:
He said it was a humanitarian mission but rejected the notion that he was going to grant them permanent residency.
You can be personally compassionate yet uphold the rule of law.
First of all, no, we do not want compassionate conservatism anymore. Tried that with GWB, and Jeb Bush has been trying it this whole election cycle. It does not sell. The American people do not want it anymore.
As for the rule of law. Cruz told both Bloomberg and then Time Magazine that legalization for illegal aliens is still on the table, despite him "opposing" it. IOW, he wants it both ways, more of the usual double talking BS despite even calling Rubio basically a liar for pointing this out.
Consigning people to the liberal plantation is not compassionate.
Helping people become independent of government is compassionate.
“You can be personally compassionate yet uphold the rule of law.”
AMEN!!!!!!!!
