"If we put in place a strong E-Verify system and deport criminal illegal aliens, the number of people here illegally will drop significantly, particularly if there's not a continual flow of people coming in illegally," Cruz said.
"At that point, once we've demonstrated that we can solve the problem, then we can have a conversation about what to do about whatever people remain illegally," Cruz added. When asked if that conversation included the potential for a pathway to legal status, he repeated, "We can have that conversation with the American people once we secure the border."

You’re comment is horse stuff and you know it.
You have nothing to point that’s better than Trump’s plan, but here you are again trashing Trump on this issue.
Cruz’s plan isn’t this good. You idiots think you’re scoring points and all you’re doing is making fools of yourselves.
It’s getting old.
Tag line.
Tag line.
Cruz was supporting a border wall in 2011 when Trump was still supporting amnesty. Vinl posted the 2011 Cruz interview on a thread a couple of days ago.
E-Verify is a non-starter for me. The politicians refuse for decades to do their job, the problem spins out of control, our country is overrun by tens of millions of illegals, and what’s their solution? Put every American citizen in a massive database and require them to get permission from a bureaucrat in order to work and earn their daily bread.
A glaring example of giving up our most important fundamental liberties in exchange for a false sense of security.
Few conservatives have thought through the actual ramifications of this idea.

I know, I was having some fun with the idea that anyone supports something because they didn’t bother to say they oppose it.
If I could, Iâd rule your sorry ass out.
“We can have that conversation with the American people once we secure the border.”
...
I really hate it when politicians say they are going to have a “conversation” because there is no such thing. That always means they are going to do something you don’t want.
I did not bookmark the thread, but did not FR recently have a discussion where it was pointed out that the feds admitted that they cannot reliably vet the Syrian refugees?
If such is the case, then how do we know that E-verify, or any such federal database will really work and protect the USA?
So Trump has the fail-safe idea which is to get rid of all illegal aliens and then let them back in legally, but only as fast as databases will reliably allow.
Ted Cruz, Constitutionalist turns rogue to the Rule of Law and rewards illegals.
Actually, it sounds like an adult has entered the room. Itâs refreshing to hear sanity and common sense. Go Ted!
No here I am responding to a poster that said that Trump was better on illegal immigration.
Cruz's plan isnât this good. You idiots think you're scoring points and all you're doing is making fools of yourselves. Itâs getting old.
Your stupid comments are getting old.
A lot of us see Cruz’s immigration plan as solid and common sense. Where’s the common sense in deporting millions of people (which will never be funded by Congress anyway) with the intention of expediting their way back into the country? That really doesn’t make sense.
Nonsense. Ted Cruz is committed to PRECISELY the Rule of Law.
Cruz plans no wall. He doesn’t plan on sending illegals back to their nation of origin.
In that, his plan is no different than John McCain’s plan.
As you were saying?
Sorry, I missed the point. :)
No one can or has ruled it out, even the beloved Donald Trump.
So what?
Whatever happens will be up to Congress, if the law is to be changed.
Meanwhile Ted Cruz is unalterably committed to following the law in every respect. What more do you want?
I AGREE.
Regarding post 50, I forgot to mention that Trump needs to encourage Congress to petition the states for an immigration amendment that will give the feds the specific power to regulate immigration.
And let the states put an expiration date on the immigration amendment to give themselves the opportunity to later decide how they really want to handle immigration while Trump cleans up the mess in the meanwhile.
