Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) refused to attack his 2016 opponent Donald Trump on Friday, despite a reporterâs persistent attempts to spark a war of words.
âIâm a big fan of Donald Trumpâs, but Iâm not a fan of government registries of Americans citizens,â he said when asked about Trumpâs remarks on the need for a Muslim-tracking database. âThe First Amendment protects religious liberty, and Iâve spent the past several decades defending the religious liberty of every American.â
When a reporter then pressed him on whether he was concerned about Trumpâs âmessagingâ as the frontrunner, Cruz shut down the line of questioning.
âListen, I like Donald Trump. I recognize the media would love to get me and other candidates to attack Donald Trump,â Cruz added. âThere may be other candidates who want to do that â I ainât going to do it. So, Iâll tell you my policy views, but I have no interest in attacking Donald Trump or, for that matter, attacking Ben Carson. Both are good men. And Iâm not interested in throwing rocks at either one of them.â

Class.
Cruz is smart, but he is also consistent, polite, etc.
There’s not going to be a ticket with Trump as VP. No way will he give up the last good 4 to 8 years of his life playing second fiddle. Just not in his DNA.
Nope. Not to mention, he’ll be desperately needed in the Senate to thwart executive overreach.
Either that or he runs for governor of Texas next. But I don’t really see him as wanting to do that.
Based on what?
Rubio’s immigration views will ruin him. Carson has tanked. Bush, Christie, Fiorina, etc. are all non issues. Trump and Cruz will end up the top two.
Perhaps. We haven’t even reached the first caucuses or primaries yet. Counting one’s chickens now isn’t wise.
Even so, the top two don’t necessarily team up. Some pairings simply don’t make sense.
Yeah. I don’t want Ted for VP, he needs to be out front.
“”I have no interest in attacking Donald Trump or, for that matter, attacking Ben Carson. Both are good men.” Ted Cruz”
The Cruz fanatics here need to pay attention to their leader!
Trump knows better than anyone how to handle the media. He’s done just fine until now without anyone’s help, LOL! He’s been an unprecedented frontrunner for months, has gotten loads of free publicity, is sought after for interviews and TV shows, and has called the media out for dishonesty from the very beginning.
Ludicrous you’d even suggest he needs help from Cruz, who responded to a media lie without even checking it out.
unfortunately, I’ve seen it both ways.
I agree. I’ve switched from Ted as VP to Palin or some other stealth pick that nobody is thinking about.
Ted attacked Trump a little bit when he said I’m a big fan of trump BUT... which implied Trump was being a bigot. He should have just left Trump out of it or said and instead of but.
The Left hates anything that makes sense if it hinders the bad guys. They would love for Cruz to either condemn it or even better - praise their point of view - either way it detracts from his sometimes oh-so-fickle base that looks harder to find fault than to recognize something positive.
Now for a short public service announcement to all on FR:
I prefer Cruz and my money goes to his campaign, hence the Cruz link. If you like someone else, donate to him/her (find your own link to do it) and if you use FR and don't donate, then please don't complain about the welfare leeches or those who have Obama Phones because, functionally, you are no different than any other FReeloader
PS - If you are one of those who cannot afford even a small donation to FR or a candidate, God Bless and happy FReeping!.....
GO CRUZ!! Keep it up Trump!!
