I don’t understand why anyone carries what they will not use. Why tell the cop you are carrying, unless you are trying to incite trouble?
He was lucky that they did not kill him. They probably did not think of it was why they did not. But they will correct that mistake the next time they see him. And be heroes.
Over the years I have been stopped three times and was carrying. When the officer came to the car I would have insurance, DL and CCL in my left hand and my right hand on the steering wheel and the drivers window open. The first thing I would say is, “Sir I am carrying” and tell the officer where the weapon was.
Without exception I was treated courteously and the officers were not alarmed. My actions also let me get by with just a warning twice.
I do not know what happened in Rosenberg but this has never been my experience.
For some reason, the Texas police have been on a very slow learning curve about gun rights. I suspect a lot of the problem originates in some of their many training academies.
They also get more than their fair share of bad apples. Instances of this include the Tulia, Texas “roundup”.
