In the wake of the deadly terror attacks in Paris last week, Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush said the U.S. should focus on creating safe havens for Syrian refugees in the region rather than bringing them to the U.S., and that there is a "special important need" to help Syrian Christians.
"There should be really thorough screening [of refugees coming to the U.S.] and we should focus on creating safe havens for refugees in Syria rather than bringing them all the way across to the United States," Bush said Monday on "CBS This Morning." "But I do think there is a special important need to make sure that Christians from Syria are being protected because they are being slaughtered in the country and but for us who? Who would take care of the number of Christians that right now are completely displaced?"
With the news that one of the Paris attackers may have entered Europe among the wave of migrants leaving Syria, some Republican presidential candidates have called for the United States to halt its Syrian refugee policy. On Sunday evening, Alabama's Republican governor, Robert Bentley, said he would refuse any Syrian refugees seeking to enter his state.
Bush has been more accepting of refugees than some of his fellow candidates, who say they should be sent back to Syria.
He had harsh words for President Obama's handling of the fight against the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) in the interview Monday, repeating the oft-heard charge that the president does not have a strategy to defeat the group.
"We can't coexist with them. We do have American forces in Iraq and in Syria but there's no strategy," Bush said. "A strategy would require American leadership to create a no-fly zone, to create safe havens.

How exactly does Jeb Bush propose to find out who is a Christian and who isn’t a Christian in Syria? And what’s to stop jihadists from posing as Christians so as to get an E Ticket ride to America?
There is no way to determined who is a Christian. Jeb is delusional.
This is just a campaign promise.
This is just a campaign promise.
Clueless on so many levels.
Taqqiya would allow literally anything in the name of being an impostor.
Call Allah the devil? Check.
Eat pork? Check.
An interview that might indicate the ability to think like a Christian, might help.
One thing I would expect, they’d bring their families, little or none of this solo man refugee stuff.
All they have to say is, “I’m a Christian” and Jeb would let them in. Guess he’s never heard of them lying to infidels. Hey, I’m a platypus!
The only test I can think of is:
“Here... this is bacon grease. Smear it on your face and leave it there.”
Then gauge the reaction.
“Christians”
JEB the cheap labor fan is just looking for a way to bootstrap these poor immigrants into the country,
It’s like the DREAM act requirement that the “child” be under the age 30 before the date of passage of the act.
You’ve seen some of the photos that look a lot like the recent photos of refugees: they look like they’re in their 30s and 40s, but we’re supposed to pretend they’re under 30.
Oh, an important closing point: the DREAM act hasn’t actually been passed yet, but Barky & Co. went ahead and pretended like it did.
So you can expect the executive branch to go ahead and ram these people down our throats as well with JEB and the RINO branch of the GOP complicit, while Ryan and McConnell sit-and-spin.
That is not who is coming here.
It’s actually very easy to tell who’s a muslim. Require them to take a koran and walk on it, rip it up, flush it down the toilet, etc. Even a nominal muslim will refuse to these things. Any one who respects that lying piece of trash must be refused entry to this nation.
The best way is to find known Syrian christian priests who have been priests for decades to point out which Christians always go to church and who are community members in good standing.
Heck that may be the ONLY way to properly vet them.
