Which here in the US have been subjected to every sort of gun control short of general confiscation since the 1930s and with a total ban on sales of new manufacture since the mid 1980s.
I’m guessing Frances regulation of those weapons is as strict if not moreso than the US’s. So those weapons had to come from somewhere. But from where?

The rot of ignoring the law has filtered down from the top to where cities and unelected agencies consider it routine. Cities and random communities ignore federal law.
States are now asserting their Constitutional prerogatives.
Even if Obama could arrange the funding of 50,000 agents exclusively for the task, willing to try the job, how much would it cost, and how long would it take to confiscate them all allowing for the certainty that citizens are more and more disposed to assert their individual Constitutional right, and aiding his neighbor similarly threatened?
If a madman attempted to confiscate merely by requesting firearm owners to send in their firearms, he/she/it better prepare to deal with the certain universal reponse :
