The time has come to question if Islam is protected under our First Amendment rights to freedom of religion. Yes, everyone in America has the right to freedom of religion, but Islam is not a religion. Religious faith is only a part of Islam. The rest is a socially engineered society with its own laws and customs that seriously conflict with American law.
Is Great Britain a religion because they have the Church of England? Of course not. Britain has an established charter, civil and criminal laws, and a society that respects those laws. Islam has the Qur'an that provides the governing charter, complete with laws, punishment, and social behavior for its people in addition to its religious teachings. If Islam is a religion, then Britain is also.

What I read was that in the beginning Mohammad entertained Jews, Christians and Zoroastrians. He gleaned information from them and started his scribes writing (Mad Mo couldn’t read or write). As he aged he became more violent and so did the Qu’ran hence the rule that later scribblings override earlier ones.

That's why I do not use the word radical in describing Muslims who are killing us Infidels.
I refer to them as "fundamentalists'.

This conversation started because Trump stated that he would close mosques. There are some FReepers insisting that islam is protected by the Constitution. This thread is to show them that idea is full of bilge water and suicidal.
I’ve run into 2 posters who believe it is a valid religion. Makes your head spin.

They didn’t mention it but did say that Judaism and LDS have laws too. They are obviously misguided and refuse to learn about islam.

I have been saying this since the Iran hostage crisis. ISLIME IS NOT (just) A RELIGION! It is an entire political, legal, cultural, and social system. And one that is organically incompatible with Western values.
We need to stop thinking about it as a religious institution!
If Nazism (rooted as it was in Aryan mythology) had been declared a religion by Hitler and his henchmen, would we have refused to attack Germany? Much of Japan’s bushido (warrior) code that drove them to war against the Allies, and which inspired the “Divine Wind” (kamakazis) was based in Shinto religious beliefs. Did that stop us from nuking Japan?

The problem is that it’s both. And both religion and political ideology are protected by the First Amendment. (Otherwise, we could ban liberalism.)
Nope. The Constitution strictly forbids any theocracy. Also Sharia Law is not compatible with the Constitution. They come here to invade, not assimilate. Only a fool would give them any rights.
