These bleeding hearts should first put up one of these ‘refugees’ on their damn couches. If they don’t do that then they should STFU.
Send these refugees to a holding area FIRST, until some kind of comprehensive vetting process can take place, more than simply “No negative record - you’re OK, go on in”.
Observation of behavior and responses to inquiries should be part of the extensive review, which should include a health examination and routine frisking for concealed contraband.
Once these basic questions are answered, only then is the next part of the process carried out, inquiring as to whether entry into another country, with all its unknown customs and culture, is just exactly the path the applicant is willing to follow. No matter how war-torn and inhospitable the former place of residence has become, people everywhere have an inordinate attachment to the place from which they came, and a surprising number may be persuaded to return, if not to their original home, another locale nearby that they could adapt to readily.
Then the return to the place designated a “safe haven” with some assurances that it will be kept that way at least for the foreseeable future.
But actual admittance to the territory once known as “the United States of America” is definitely NOT the first option, or even any option, in the majority of cases.
