This downward trend of quality is due to almost unrestricted access to loans by any child willing to mortgage his/her future to possess a diploma hardly worth the paper on which it is written, from a provider that treats each student as merely another cash cow to be herded by barely experienced instructors ill-fitted to prepare one for a promised meaningful future.

This would be called a four-bagger in baseball.

I’ve watched this happen from within and without the ivy walls for about 55 years now. Actually, I matriculated Syracuse University 61 years ago, and I think scolasticism was a bit tougher then. Your competition for grades was Korean vets who were there with a purpose in mind. The year I entered, Syracuse U tuituion was $750, and you could work for your meals in the dining halls. My room was $60 a semester, in WWII Butler buildings put up to handle the WWII vets.
