Most of the time, the French are cream puffs, but when history takes a turn, they can become remarkably bloody-minded, as the reign of terror in the French Revolution and their 1.15 million military dead in World War One demonstrate. In the event of a major outbreak of intifada style Muslim communal violence, I would not be surprised to see the French Army called in to reduce one or more offending banileus to rubble.
