President Barack Obama said Monday that sending troops into Syria to fight ISIS would be a "mistake," but not allowing Syrian refugees into the United States would betray American values.

Obama reaffirmed the need to accept refugees from Middle East war zones who are flooding into Europe.

"At the same time, all of our countries have to ensure our security, and as president, my first priority is the safety of the American people," he said. "Even as we accept more refugees — including Syrians — we do so only after subjecting them to rigorous screenings and security checks. We also have to remember that many of these refugees are the victims of terrorism; that's why they're fleeing."

Don’t send troops to Syria. Send them to Northern Iraq and as Russia pushes ISIS south, pick them off at the border.

A much bigger mistake at this point is to continue to support the wrong side. We should be doing everything we could to be SUPPORTING Bashar al-Assad, right alongside the Russians.

Assad may be a gold-plated SOB on the order of Saddam Hussein, but whoever would replace him would be infinitely worse. There are no “moderate” Muslims in this conflict.

The genie is out of the bottle, and there will be hell to pay stuffing it back in. The only way out is through to the other side.

In no way can Obama be sincere in saying that it would be a mistake to send troops into Syria now. He would not say this in 2017 if asked what a Republican POTUS should or shouldn’t do.
