Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul seized on Fridayâs terrorist attacks in Paris to criticize GOP presidential rival Sen. Marco Rubio Saturday.
âTwo, three years ago, I introduced a bill, or an amendment, to the immigration bill that would have provided for more scrutiny of people coming into our country: refugees, immigrants, students,â Paul said, when asked about his response to Fridayâs attacks. âThey would have had background checks and they would have had a much higher degree of scrutiny. And the point I made in my speech was, I introduced this to Rubio and (Democratic Sen. Chuck) Schumerâs immigration bill and then Rubio and Schumer and all of the authors voted against any conservative amendments. And I think that was a mistake, not only for the bill, but also for our national security.â
âMarco and Schumer basically had a secret deal to block all amendments,â Rand alleged.

Typical liberal takedown headline.
Paul is right. Gang of 8 would decrease our security here in the U.S.
It’s a dealbreaker for Rubio as a candidate for any thinking American.
A pretty legit criticism.
The left seems to be confused about what constitutes taking advantage of tragedy to score political points and necessarily pointing out the consequences of political votes & policies.
Go away Rand.
Paris killed your candidacy. And probably Rubio’s.
It seems Rubio was trying to kill the bill. The bill died. He did a great job not having any immigration reform happen. He probably wanted the country to use already used laws.
True...it was Rubio that actually turned it around...but that wont stop the anti Hispanic/Catholic vile here on good ol FR.
