In recent weeks, I’ve given serious thought to Trump. I’m not inclined to like him, as I think he is an arrogant blowhard with one and only one true mission - the building up of Trump.
That said, I’ve recognized that he’s at least for the time being a genuine player and doesn’t appear to be fading or crashing - quite the opposite.
Still, I realized I can’t support him for a realpolitik reason that has nothing to do with who he is or what he stands for: If elected, he will have absolutely NO relationships on Capitol Hill and both parties will bend over backwards to screw him. It will be like Jimmy Carter all over again, except Carter took more than two full years to alienate most of Congress. Trump will have their total ire from day one.
Such a toxic relationship will ensure nothing ever gets done in Washington. It’ll make today’s gridlock and posturing look like The Era of Good Feeling.
Gridlock not all bad. It would have stopped Obamacare.
I love gridlock when traitors like Paul La Raza Ryan and Mitchy are selling off the US to crony capitalized and foreign billionaires like Murdoch - Soros The old saying that no American's freedom, liberty and possessions are safe while Congress is in session is very true today !
Such a toxic relationship will ensure nothing ever gets done in Washington. Itâll make todayâs gridlock and posturing look like The Era of Good Feeling.
That would be a good thing. Everytime they agree to ‘do’ something the American people get screwed.
The era of journalistic power is coming to an end
-"Such a toxic relationship will ensure nothing ever gets done in Washington."
You sound like a BIG GOV RINO whinning!
First of all, BOTH parties... 'ARE' the PROBLEM!
and Second of all, if "nothing gets done in Washington" in my book, that's a GREAT THING!!!!!!!!!
Are you saying because Trump doesn’t have friends in a corrupt congress you won’t vote for him? Exactly what friends does Cruz have?
I suppose there's some similarity there, but there are differences. The most significant, IMO, is that Carter was not a big picture thinker as Trump is and he possessed no skill for communication. If Congress doesn't see the light they will surely feel the heat.
Also, it's a different world. Carter won because of the media; if Trump is elected it will be despite the best efforts of the media. Trump shows how to go around the media.
What you said is true. It will also be true for Cruz (who I support). I think Trump and Cruz are both grownups and know that the positions they have staked out will find no friends in our feckless ruling class. Fortunately, I think both these candidates will not be afraid to use the Bully Pulpit to get the American people to whip them into shape.
At least that is my hope, because of they can’t, I fear we are lost.
I am very concerned about the opposition of the Democrat/Progressive fifth-column, the MSM, to getting meaningful change accomplished. I’d love to see Trump or Cruz get the DOJ to investigate the collusion of the Big 3 with the Democrat Party and use the damming info they uncover to pull one or more of their FCC licenses. Even the threat of that, I hope would force them to clean up their act and perform the role we want them to play, impartial watchdog of the public good.
Is that you Karl? Is that you Juan? Is that you Mutt?
We need to get things “undone”, we do not need that bunch to get things done n00b.
If he is elected with a majority of the popular vote then he will have a mandate to do what he is promising to do. Also since most of what he is promising is simply enforcing existing laws their is not much Congress can to to stop him. And we the people can help President Trump by sending him allies in Congress every two years.
“It will be like Jimmy Carter all over again,”
The big difference here is that Carter was, and still is, and idiot! Not so for Trump. Also Trump, unlike Carter will have the people behind him together with some heavyweight people in key senior positions in the government. The GoPee will fight Trump at their peril, because Trump will either have their support or their mirkins hanging on the wall of the Oval Office.
