It is likely that it is Islamic terrorism, but that does not mean it is someone who has only arrived in France the past few months from Syria.
Actually, the vast, vast majority of Muslims in France were already here prior to the recent migration (probably well over 95%).
Some of them may be recent immigrants but others are probably from the local long term but radicalized population. I was in Spain last week and there were round ups going on everywhere. Even in my quiet little residential neighborhood, because the Spanish follow these things very closely. I saw an anti-terrorist squad marching a chain of ME men out, hands on head, from a modest but not bad apartment building to the police van...
One of the problems is that the French and the Spanish have always been reluctant to share intelligence, mostly because one side or the other was always trying to protect ETA (marxist Basque separatists), depending on the orientation of the government in power at that time.
I hope this will be a wake up call to everybody. But then again, I thought 9/11 would do that. And it didn’t.
