Stdent protests roiled college campuses Thursday, when Claremont McKenna College's dean of students resigned under pressure over racial tensions and protesters at more than 100 colleges and universities nationwide demanded the cancellation of student debt.
Dean Mary Spellman at Claremont McKenna stepped down after she sparked a campus protest and hunger strikes by two students this week over her email to a Latina student saying she would work to serve those who "don't fit our CMC mold."
Spellman later apologized but her remarks appeared to be a tipping point for students who have pressed the campus for months for greater diversity among faculty and staff and more funding for multicultural services.
Spellman's resignation came days after student protests over racial discrimination pushed the University of Missouri's president and chancellor to resign. Hundreds of students at Ithaca College in upstate New York have demanded the resignation of the college's president, Tom Rochon over accusations that he has failed to address racial insensitivity. Racial tensions also prompted hundreds of students to demonstrate this week at Yale University.

Quick true story. I've got a (white) friend who is a computer consultant. He was called in to advise a big-city public school superintendent, a black guy.
In the middle of their discussion, the superintendent gets a call on his speaker phone. The caller says to the superintendent, "We've got to get rid of Mr. Smith. He's white, you know."
That didn't seem to embarrass the superintendent at all. After the call ended, he and my friend just went back to talking about computers.
Those stupid children aren’t “revolutionaries” at all; they’re damned snowflakes and cupcakes, who all melt and get the vapors.
Not for people who have children or grandchildren who one day will go to college, it isn’t.
True.
But that’s not what is being presented nor is it what a growing majority think/believe.
When are we going to stop preaching to the choir/get out of our bubble?
” subordinate all business activity to the command of the state, and which tolerates no dissent”
Which is happening in every aspect our society. Education, Media: sports, entertainment, news.
For example...I know who signs my paycheck and I know I walk a fine line. My political and religious beliefs posed a problem so I shut my mouth when it interfered with my employment. For the most part. I still can’t really can’t keep my mouth shut but I have tempered it somewhat.
Heh this is what happens in a liberal state when the conservatives have left it, lol. Frankly, I’m gonna keep my job and shut my mouth since I have NO back up.
At the end of the day, communism and fascism reach a point where they look the same, don’t they.
Communism is statist, totalitarian and anti-God. May not be eugenicist in that everyone does not have to be alike, but everyone has to darn well think alike.
All depends on the college. There are plenty that won’t put up with this nonsense.
We need a list of such colleges...ASAP !
I don’t think they are waking up to it at all.
Granted, they may not seem to be sticking together, but they do and have since JFK or before.
Enlighten me.
I’m not sure what you’re saying or trying to say here.
Name them.
Heh!
These stupid children are our future.
Exactly.
Could be but I just hope the right fights because that’s the only shot we got.
:-)
Well hopefully those of us here have conservative children and grandchildren; I do. And I know quite a few such families who don’t post to FR, so hopefully THEY are our future and not the animals now on parade.
