Ted Cruz, in an interview with Laura Ingraham was asked about his position on H1-B Visas. Ted explains his position now as opposed to his position in 2013. Cruz and Sessions are crafting legislation to reform the H1-B program and to deal with he abuses that are harming American workers.

The entire interview is excellent and the H1-B visa issue discussion begins around the 7:50 mark.

Cruz just said on a clip on Fox that he supports severely limiting or suspending legal immigration until the illegal immigration situation is under control.

Immigration moderation. Before any new green cards are issued to foreign workers abroad, there will be a pause where employers will have to hire from the domestic pool of unemployed immigrant and native workers. This will help reverse women’s plummeting workplace participation rate, grow wages, and allow record immigration levels to subside to more moderate historical averages.

Bears repeating -

...In 2014, the editorial board of the Union Leader newspaper in New Hampshire asked Cruz that specific question.

Cruz responded that he would not deport any illegal immigrants who had obeyed all other USA laws...

No wailing or gnashing of teeth here - just wondering why it took him five months after Trump did this to get on board. Maybe waiting to see which way the wind blows?

Good. I seriously doubt Ted would be making an issue of it if not for Trump, because he didn’t before. Trump was the first to address the elephant in the room, now others have too also. I like Ted a lot, I just think Trump has a much better chance of winning, especially since the GOPe hacks will try to undermine either of them as nominee.

Isn’t that what Trump has been saying. All along.

You might want to go back and check what Trump was saying last year. If we can accept Trump’s change in position on illegal immigration, at one time embracing the Dream Act, then surely you can accept a stance that Cruz took in 2013, that he actually took to help defeat the Gang of 8. He offered the position knowing the left would not accept his amendment, and it further exposed their hypocrisy and led to the immigration bill being defeated.

Now he is recognizing the need to address the H1-B visa problem and he’s doing that through legislation. Further he is saying we need to suspend legal immigration until we get the illegal situation under control.

Many of us who also support Trump have given him much leeway as his positions have changed over time. Cruz deserves the same consideration.

Oh, yeah, doubtless. That Ted Cruz, he's always been a prevaricator.

Cruz is making an issue of it because he is hearing these concerns from voters. As a Senator, he is addressing those concerns.

The best this nation can do is a ticket with both Trump and Cruz. It would be an insane waste of talent of two good men to do anything else.

I applaud any and all of Ted’s changes of direction that are in the same direction as Trump and Sessions. I don’t mind if that change of direction was yesterday even.

I would like to know that his change of views can be trusted, time will tell on that.

I don’t beleive he has been honest in the past, that’s my opinion.

If his position now is heartfelt then I applaud him. It will take time for me to believe that.

Per earlier thread: In 2014, the editorial board of the Union Leader newspaper in New Hampshire asked Cruz that specific question. Cruz responded that he would not deport any illegal immigrants who had obeyed all other USA laws.

I didn't see a source cited in that earlier thread.

Now he against H1b increase, I still am skeptical of him though for the time being, only time will tell.

His prior support was based on actual need, and not for the abuses that are occurring. His former support was based on an assumption of good faith by employers. Since Employers are not exercising good faith, Cruz is doing what he can to stop the abuse.

No, there wasn’t one. It was a reference to the report that day. I’m sure you can find it.

LOL? Why don’t you object to my position by drmonstrating it is wrong. Cruz=smart. Cruz should or did know Americans suffering because of a visa Cruz wants to increase the numbers by 500%. Cruz now side stepping his former position.

Do you trust a person that flps that quickly? If so, why?

You are sadly ill-informed. Have you listed to Laura’s interview of Ted Cruz at the link at the top of this thread?

The Trump Effect reaches the true conservative.

Well, OK, there was a small hole in that conservative belief.

I accept it when he's said he's changed his position on the expansion but the proof will be in the pudding.

I think what you are saying is that we have to elect him before we know the truth?
